Very nice, thanks for sharing those fine pictures with us.

Is that a fuel filler cap wired shut? I am wondering under what circumstances they would use that feature?

Great pictures. Tom I've been told the safety wire is for Le Mans but it would also make sense for sprint races. Unfortunately, for some reason, I cannot print screen to get the image but here is a link showing an Allard J2X with a brass ring for safety-wire on the filler cap.

The Le Mans tabs were for Scrutineers to put a seal through so that you couldn't add oil before you were allowed to by Le Mans regs. The safety wire is simply for safety.

I need to give credit - the first two shots are mine - the Weber shot is Ed Warburton ("wetpet")

I'll guess the third picture is a BBLM.

That's right. I'm hoping to make it out to Pebble to see it all together again.

What a wonderful, revealing photo of the hand workmanship typical of Ferrari of the Fifties!

Thanks for sharing it with us.

We see so many photos of the seamless mile deep paint on finished show cars this is a delightful contrast!
