I really like the '99 TDF 355 F1 Vin # ZFFXR48A5X0114581 Sportscarcompany in San Diego is offering on ebay.

but when I ran the carfax report, it shows an accident indicator back in 04/2000. This is what carfax indicates:

    Georgia Police Report :

    Accident reported
    in Fulton County
    Involving left front impact
    with another motor vehicle
    Extensive damage reported

Would you guys stay away from the car ? It has been for sale for a while. Anybody go any info on it ? Any comments

    Thanks

    Ulf
    (who can't decide if he wants a 360 or 355 ;) )

I would contact the seller to get an explanation on what happened. The seller has a pretty good reputation here on fchat. If it has been in an accident you will need to find out what was damaged and who fixed it. If it was extensive damage I would try to find another car if I were you. It is a buyers market right now. Be patient and I am sure you will be able to find an accident free car at a decent price.

Nice looking car though and great color. He's down the road from me since I live in San Diego also. I think I may have seen him in La Jolla driving around a while ago.

Unless you can buy it super cheap, I would stay clear. The problem is not if it was repaired correctly or not, the problem is if you go to sell it in the future, you will have a story to go with it.... Most buyers will look at the next car before buying this one unless it is worth their while....Meaning price....

That is exactly what I was thinking and will stay away. It's not that I personally care if the price is right and fixed properly, but the constant thinking that I wouldn't be able to sell it when time has arrived due to it's record, would bother me too much. Awesome car though.

    Thanks for the input

I'm fairly new here because I just bought my 355 a month ago- but that means I've been in the market for a 355 for a few months before pulling the trigger and I can honestly tell you that there are currently ones without "a story" going for less. not bad talking the owner of his spider but his price is high considering it has a ding on the carfax. I agree, that if this is the color combination that you've been looking for and really want this one, to contact the seller and find out what exactly happened. the part that scares me are the words "extensive damage".. tells me it was more than a fender bender. its a buyers market out there and for $80k you can get a nice 355

If you can buy it right go for it. Unless the damage was huge what's the diff? Cars are sheet metal. Sheet metal crunches and bends. You replace it and paint it. It's not like it's a Picasso. That's what repair shops are for.

Unless the whole frame got tweaked and when you go to put the motor back in after an engine out service the threaded subframe holes don't line up...personally I'd avoid this, enough cars around to avoid potential problems
