Don't quite know why we don't have one yet. Anyways I just went to a premier of Hancock. Two thumbs up. They did a really good job. If you get a chance to see it around Independence Day, go see it!
Saw them both yesterday....Had wayy too much popcorn...long story short I liked Get Smart alot, Zohan, well basically sucked. Im jewish, and I think it may help to know a little bit of yidish, hebrew, and what not to understand some of the jokes. Just my opinion.
New Batman review - nearly 4 stars. http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/movie/16155928/review/21477208/the_dark_knight RMX
BTW if you are in the LA/OC area and want to go to free movie screenings here it is : http://www.campuscircle.com/filmscreenings/
Saw "Surfwise" over the weekend, small indie documentary on the Paskowitz family (sorta like the Andrettis or Unsers of surfing). great movie, highly recommended.
Wall*E -- gorgeous animation, a bit too heavy handed on the political message. Still worth watching Wanted -- suspend all disbelief, then enjoy. High levels of gratuitous violence, filmed in a stylish manner Zohan -- one of the few flicks I've walked out of in my life. Get Smart -- actually a lot of fun, secondary characters really added some life to this film. I'm looking forward to the spinoff DVD that should be coming out Any Day Now
Get Smart : Horrible and Stupid Wanted : Starts nicely but then just goes completely over the top with stupid story and previsible ending Zohan : Stupid What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas : Funny and cute. Nice cast , nice settings .
I saw THE LOVE GURU last weekend and it was the BIGGEST piece of crap I've seen in a very long time. The entire movie is just one dick joke to the next. From start to finish, I think I laughed twice. When I got home, I was interested in what the reviews had to say (I should have read these beforehand). Ebert says it best, "There’s a moment of invention near the beginning of the film (his flying cushion has a back-up beeper), and then it’s all into the dump. Even his fellow actors seem to realize no one is laughing. That’s impossible, because they can’t hear the audience, but it looks uncannily like they can, and don’t."
Yep, Andrew just about nailed it with his review. Angelina Jolie is looking damn fine though!!! And the action was pretty good as well. HULK : Saw it and liked it mainly because I grew up with that old tv series (Bill Bixby and Lou Ferigno), and the movie actually used the same scenarios. Not like that HULK movie from 4 or 5 years ago with Eric Bana.
Hellboy II screening : Excellent movie and a special effects lovers dream come true. Probably the best animatronics ever put on film. Highly recommend if you dig fantasy/monsters.
Wanted - I saw it with this in mind - IT IS BASED ON AN ADULT GRAPHIC NOVEL/COMIC BOOK! With that in mind - I thought it was pretty d@mned good. The Get Smart Spin Off DVD was released Yesterday!!! Haven't seen Get Smart yet, so I didn't buy the spin off.
The Incredible Hulk - went to see it last night. Way better than the joke that was released 5 years back.
Saw Wall-e a few days ago. I thought it was a really good film. Great story line as always by Pixar. Animation was pretty good too. Dark Knight on Thursday, can't wait.
We went to see... Journey to the Center of the Earth- Good movie, lots of fun, GREAT LOOKING FEMALE co-star. The movie was not as good as original if you're a die-hard sci-fi fan,.... more mindless action, less science. Very good special effects, not much of a story. (would have been good in 3D, my theator advertised it in the paper as 3D, but didn't have it when we showed up. I'd suggest to call first if you want to make sure they have 3D) Not a spoiler....just speaking in general I guess you could say the movie has been "Modernized" meaning that they have to add a back-story about a disgruntled teenager who doesn't respect his parents who are them-selfs going through a family divorce or a death, which has nothing at all to do with a sci-fi or adventure film. Why is it that every moder Sci-Fi film, is about divorced kids and how they don't like their parents.... War Of The Worlds, The Day After Tomorrow, Jurassic Park III, and the list goes on-and-on
Just saw the Dark Knight! All I can say is WOW. Couldn't have made it any better. By far the Best Picture of the year. I wish there was a category in the oscars for this. Everything was just spot on. I really hope they don't ruin the series with the next one. Cause this by far has to be my favorite of the superhero films. And I'm not a big fan of Batman either. Posted a couple pics I took of the costumes the actors wore on the Spoiler thread. Check em out.
Get Smart: As a movie alone, nice well done little film. 8/10 stars. As a homage to the original Get Smart, as I was expecting, awful job. 3/10 Stars.
Just saw The Wrestler. AWESOME movie! Mickey Rourke gives an killer performance. Marissa Tomei plays a smoking hot stripper. 44 years old and her t*ts look just as good as girls half her age. As far as the Oscar goes, well, I'm on Jennifer Aniston's side. So my vote's not going to Brad Pitt.
