A good friend of mine who specialises in restoring and respraying high end cars is just beginning the respray of a 355 spider, the car was originally Verde Silverstone but has since been resprayed twice and is now black, the car needs to be taken back to bare metal because of the three layers of paint, i thought you guys may be interested in the process of spraying this 355, i will post more pics as the car progresses.

This is my mates website, check out some of his other work, plenty of Ferrari and others on there.

    Easy to remove:

    1. Remove two 6mm nuts from the front of the scoop near the door hinge (access from inside with the door open.

    2. Remove two 6mm nuts from underneath the scoop (access lying on your back under the door/scoop).

    3. Remove one small black trim panel via two tiny self tappers on the rear of the door (avoids damege and provides more movement to remove the scoop).

    4. Finally, remove two countersink and one round head screw from the outer top side of the scoop (allen key head).

Support the scoop prior to removing the last screw in (4) above (the one in the middle of the scoop to avoid twisting). Carefully lower on an angle to clear the door opening handle. Be careful at the front edge to avoid nicking the paint on the edge of the door/scoop. Some masking tape may be helpful here.

Job done in around 10 minutes and note there is no need the remove any on the door trim inside other than the samll one noted in (3) above.

    Hello Terry :)

I'm the sad one with the scratch and a dent on the lower scoop. It seems that there is a misunderstanding of which scoop we're talking about, it's the smaller ones underneath the doors, and I'm trying my best to get it off at the moment. So far I've removed 4 screws underneath the car, and one screw just behind the front wheel. It seems from the pictures earlier in this thread that there are some screws located under the "door panel" the nice black one that says "Ferrari". I've managed to remove three small screws under the "rubber seal" for the door, but can't figure out how to remove the panel... ?? :(
I hope that both the dent and the scratches can be fixed by the guys at the local body workshop, so I have to get this off today so I can get it delivered to them tomorrow ;-)

Any help would be very much appreciated :)
These are btw. the scoops I'm referring to: http://www.pless.com.au/f355/rebuild/body/images/BILD0115.JPG

    Welcome to Fchat brother. :):)

I think those Ferrari sills are glued on from the factory IRRC. You will just have to 'peel' them up, so to speak. :):)

Ok, I'll give it a go. Is the lower scoops made out of glassfiber/carbon or aluminum? reason why I'm asking is if it's possible to repair the small dent in it or not (maybe easier to just "rebuild the structure and paint it" so to say... I can't quite figure out what material it's made of. Worst case here is that if the sills are glued to well, I'll have to buy some new sills as well :D hehe.

    Fiberglass.

Any shop that is good with fiberglass can fix it.

Sounds nice :-D I have an appointment at one of the local body workshops tomorrow, I guess they know what to do.
And besides from that, it seems I'm going to order a new set of sills (these thin alu-plates which are glued on like ****)... And since I already have the carbon-seats, I guess I go for the carbon-sills. Any other suggestions than http://www.ferraricarbon.com/ ?

Thanks for all the help so far btw ;)
