Actually, title should read 'I finally bought a 512tr'! Yes, after looking for over a year and following the market carefully, I finally struck a deal and put a deposit on a 1994 512tr with 10,200 miles and a fresh major with all receipts done on 2-08. Yellow/black. I'm sure a lot of you have seen it advertised as it's been for sale for quite some time. I am very happy with the deal. Hopefully I can get a transporter and have it here in a couple weeks or less. I'm trying to upload a pic as we speak so hopefully it will work. Thanks to all who gave me great input and feed back duriing my search. I will post more pics when it arrives!

Thanks for the good wishes guys. Yes this was the one at Lamborghini of Houston and they sent it to their head quarters Motorcars international in MO. Very nice people to work with and we struck a good deal. I followed the car for about 10 months daily, religiously, and it paid off. The market is soft for exotics in general and I think they were just glad to finally be done with the vehicle. It is in beautiful condtion and like I said every thing has been checked and maintained. I am waitnig patiently for it's arrival!!!

I guess your not the guy who called me about this car 8-10 weeks ago. Things changed on the car about 2 months ago. Originally the car was on consinement and the guy who owned it wasn't budging. It didn't have the maintenance done and the price was firm. I tried to stike a deal only to be turned down. I forgot about the car and bought a 91 TR and happy for it.

I bought a 04 Gallardo from Lambo of Houston a couple of months ago and the car was still there. They told me that they had bought the car and was prepared to negotiate on it. I hope you got a good price.

Just be careful with this car. I first saw it for sale in June, 2007 at Lamborghini Houston. It sat there almost a year until recently when sister store Motorcars International took the car for its inventory.

Obviously there will be reasons as to why the car didn't have a prayer for being sold these past 12 months -- I mean, the car has been all over the internet. While I cannot remember exactly all the things I learned about this car, I think I remember something about the interior being in pretty poor condition. Of course, I wouldn't think that would be a dealbreaker for every potential buyer. I am aware that the owner was pretty stubborn about the price; but still, the price wasn't hugely out of the ballpark. That car with 10K miles should have sold. Why did it not sell? What is their explanation? A 1994 512 TR with that kind of mileage and in the condition that THEY describe should be rolling over the curb all day long.

Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade here -- just hope whoever buys it has the paint, body, and undercarriage FULLY inspected by a qualified body man before going ahead with any deal.

Hi jratcliff, that was me you spoke to about that car, Funny I also bought a 91 TR. Those guys at Lambo of Hoston act like a used car dealer selling $500 cars with no credit checks. I gave up on that car when they wouldnt return phone calls and come up with more detailed photos of the interior. I guess they wanted me to just take thier word on the condition of the car. On the flip side, Slydog CONGRATULATIONS!!! I was following that car also. I was very close to flying down there with a pocket full of $$$, but the dealer not the car turned me off. Yellow is to die for (I ended up settling for a red car). Do youself a favor and have the car inspected, even though they say it has been serviced, they never could fax me any documentatin of that. Good Luck with the new ride!!!

Thanks for the concern guys. I too was very leery about the car since it sat for so long. The sales people at Houston are not the best to deal with, and they would not move off the asking price for about a year, but when it got up to MO things changed. Very friendly service and a willingness to deal. They took atleast 25 hi res pics for me inside and out and both look to be in great condition, as they should be with only 10K on the clock. Interior looks flawless with no driver side bolster wear, perfect matts, and no dash shrinkage.

I think the problem stemed from the fact that when it was under consignment, the owner would not even budge and it needed a major. Eventually a major was done on 2-08 by Alan Bramall of Texas who is suppose to be a renown tuner, though I never heard of him which is not unusual. I have the receipt in front of me which includes belts, valve adjustment, waterpump seals, etc. A whole lost of things done. I am having a PPI and have a phone call in to Alan to chat about the car.

Again, the car started at 135K with no recent major, and the owner wouldn't budge for a year until the dealership bought it outright. I am happy to devulge the buying price if that's proper edicate for this forum, but I will say it was less that $115K. I appreciate the input on this vehicle. I have a refundable deposit on the car incase it is not as described, but from what I've heard about Motorcars International they are a reputable dealership. I would hope they would be smart enough not to misrepresent a vehicle knowing full well the power of the internet now a days. I'll keep you posted!

By the way, if there are any F-chat members close to this vehicle and wouldn't mind taking a look at it for me, I would be most appreciative!

    Dear Ferraristi,

    Congrats!!!

    ....a big FREEZE....MIAMI VICE ! to you. :D

The best choice in Ferrari in my opinion.( I do prefer red....but love that black interior )

Since the car has the spiritual essence of the Testarossa, you are allowed to yell " Freeze...Miami Vice " when you jump out.

    BTW,

You will have to get used to people asking..." a 5-1-2-T-R?...I thought it was a Testarossa " :D

10 years ago I always thought that someday I will have a yellow 512TR/M. Its such a stunning silhouette in that color. But in the end, I ended having a red one as fate brought me to it. A BIG CONGRATS. you will LOVE the TR just like the guys here.

    Congrats

Myself and another 512TR owner looked at the car in Houston. I don't recall either of us commenting on any problems with the interior. Car looked quite nice.

I remember well that the exhaust system is still stock. I have Hyperflow pre-cats pipes and Hyperflow cats with Tubi exhaust. Love the sound. Lots of threads on choice of exhaust. If you are in the Houston area let us know.

Congratulations and I love the yellow, it looks stunning and I can only imagine how nice it looks in person! I bought a red tr and thought the pics were great until I actually saw the car and to be honest, it brought tears of joy! The waiting is going to kill you but trust me, it's worth it! The only thing in my life that comes close, actually it is number 1, to the pure joy that the TR brings was the birth of my boys. The ear to ear grin that the TR brings is priceless and it looks like you got a great deal on the 512. BTW - the compliments and drivers who kill themselves to get close to the car brings lots of attention when you're on the road so get ready and enjoy!

Yellow is THE color on the TR,

I know that having a car sit for sale for a year makes one nervous about buying it.
Forget that, The car is what it is. Not a perception; a machine.
Motorcars always treated me right when shopping for a car even though I ended up getting one elsewhere.
I think they may be the best "value" retailer out there.

Actually the car has a Tubi exhaust. Are you sure it was thie same car? Either way thanks for the input!

Oldcoin, I am in PA. just north of Philly in Huntingdon Valley. Where are you? Love to show the car to anyone who wants!

I actually called my sales guy there and asked for hi res pics of the interior and the under side on a lift. He said no problem, first thing Monday morning. I do have a few of the interior already and it looks pristine. As I said, the guys at Motoecar International are much friendlier than the people at Lambo of Houston and willing to provide any thing I ask.

Also I do have a friend going to look at the car this week just to give me his opinion, athough I am comfortable in the dealings I've had with the sales man there. He is very friendly and cooperative. Again I'll keep you guys updated as things progress and any more input is always appreciated!

If I was you i would not buy any of that Texas tuner stuff and I would be very care full to make sure that I have an unrelated pro to investigate all records and the car before you believe anything besides appearance....... they make sure the car looks right but the rest is up to you!
If you find your self with a misrepresented car you will be going to arbitration in their State if you pursue it or eat it.
Verify the records and use the truth as a negotiating tool if the car deserves it.
I do not want to spoil your fun buying this car but your sellers are known for being experts at detailing a car to look right and outright misrepresent records.
Verify before you get the car so you end up with a good experience.
I will be glad to help you if you want to PM me

    Best of luck

You say "It is in beautiful condition and like I said every thing has been checked and maintained". then you say "By the way, if there are any F-chat members close to this vehicle and wouldn't mind taking a look at it for me, I would be most appreciative". Which is it? did you have an independent PPI? I would highly recommend against buying a 100k car without having a good, independent mechanic give it a couple hour going over. I also recommend checking that the work was done and done properly. I have seen more than one car with paperwork, but no work. I'd also be interested in what you guys think of the price. i'm no tr price expert, but it seems about 10k high. I hope it all checks out for you, it is a great looking car and i would love to have one myself. I love yellow, specially in a tr.

I guess I should be more specific. I have receipts from the dealer that say the major was performed on 2-08 and it is itemised. I realize that dealers don't always tell the truth and I do have a call into the estblishment that they claim did the work. I have not heard back from them yet but it is Saturday, so I am trying to cover all the bases. I was comfortble but some of you here bring up good points which is EXACTLY why I posted this here. As I said I have a refundable deposit so if things don't check out I'll move on. Also, I stated I am having a friend look at the car and also have a call into Premier Motors located in SpringField and I would like them to do a PPI, but again it's Saturday and I didn't hear back from them. I am not trying to sound contradictory by saying that I am comfortable on one hand, but still want to cover all the bases on the other. I just think you can never be too careful, and that's why I ask for input. Thanks again.
