the guy broke a red light and hit me.. he didn't even try braking.. estimated cost of about $20k to fix.. luckily the guy was decent enough to admit his mistake.. so his insurance is gonna take care of it.. it will take months to repair though.. hope Herb Chambers in Boston does a good job..

it was a 1998 Subaru Legacy.. barely had a scratch.. he drove it home..
i, on the other hand, had to watch the rear of my car scrape the ground as it was pulled onto the flatbed..

Sorry to hear about the misfortune but glad your OK. If it's going to take 20k to fix the car you might as well have the insurance company write it off as a loss rather than trying to fix it. It looks like the rear suspension is damaged & it's difficult to say if there will be more unforeseen supplemental issues.

Yah I'd try and get a new car. This will probably cause suspension and alignment issues forever.

Agreed, a car is never quite right after something like this. Squeaks and Rattles will be the least of the issues.

Absolutely! Don't let your insurance company off the hook with this type of damage.

Thanks for the advice guys. but how do i go about doing that? havent gotten into an accident before, so im not sure how to deal with all this. America is very complicated with all this paperwork!!

i have already authorized the repairs though, so i'd appreciate advice on what to do next.

    thanks!

    ill post daylight pictures soon.

First get an estimate from the shop for the repairs, at the same time, call around to several late model salvage yards, and get a offers on the car.
Make it clear to the repair shop that NOTHING is to be straightened out, and only new BMW parts are acceptable.
If possible, get the estimate from an authorized BMW dealer.

If you are lucky, repair costs + Salvage value will be enough for a new car.
