It has been awhile since we headed out on a significant road trip. None of this less than 250 mile stuff. Planned to leave for west coast to Victoria BC (~1200 Km) right after work but the thunderstorm with torrential downpour and tornado watch delayed that. At about 7:30 PM the sun came out and we headed out on the first leg of the trip; Lloydminster AB to Edson AB, about 5 hours (450 KM). So far so good.....

Travel to the end of the pavement when going west... the very end of Canada. Stopped at the a forestry museum in Duncan for a steam train ride and look at a lot of worn out equipment. Then we headed out to Tofino, the old growth forest, rain forest and long beach where there was a surfing contest of some sort. The road was VERY twisty and lots of elevation changes. One of the better drives. And always the minivan driver challenge LOL. It was a lot of fun. ... about 500 miles today.

Another 500 mile day ... cruise up the coast to Campbell River on the Oceanside Drive. It was very hot - 30+C. Turned on the A/C to see how the car would handle it. It actually worked... cool, not cold though, in the cab and no engine overheat issues even in stop and go traffic. I think all this is due to removal of the catylitic converter. The car is working great so far. If only gas wasn't $1.61 / liter.

Heading off the island, boats and ferries everywhere. Heat upwards of 30 C. A/C and car performed way better than expected. Onto the mainland, up to Merritt on the Cocq and down into the Okanagan at Kelowna for the evening. It is interesting that we have not seen one other Ferrari or Lambo on the whole trip and so far no one has spotted us.... after at least 1500 miles of driving.

Up through the Okanagan to the Shuswap, east on Trans-Canada through Banff to Canmore. Another very hot day but A/C is still working, thank goodness. Beautiful mountain scenery to enjoy and the road is good. Lots of curves, tight and sweepers. If there wasn't so many tourists you could really make some time. LOL. Spotted a yellow spyder between Sicamous and Vernon and a Gallardo at Rogers Pass.

Stayed overnight in Canmore and headed into Calgary (ZR) through Drumheller (Royal Tyrell Museum) and home to Lloydminster by 10 PM. Another brutally hot day. Hit some road construction where they were spraying water on the clay. My poor car has never been so dirty. Had to find a car wash to clean it enroute. 4500 Kms (2800 miles) 9 days,no problems. No reason not to drive your cars that I can see. Highest price fuel was in Victoria BC at $1.61/litre and lowest was Edmonton at $1.40/litre. Used about 530 litres (116 imperial gallons) of gas. Approximate fuel economy: 24mpg
