    Hi Guys,

I am new around here. I am thinking of purchasing a 2003 murci. I hope to get some insight info with regards to Murci prices.

How much do you think I can get a Clean car, under 10k miles, black for? I've seen a couple black ones on the net.

I have heard people trading them to dealers for $150-160. Is that true?

So can I get them for mid-low $160k?

    Thx

Well you have come to the right place...I database all the prices for the Mucielago's, and MY03's are my fav. years!

For a good no story MY03 the prices have come down abit since last year and good example can be bought in the $180's -$195k...So they are a great buy right now. Feel free to give me a call when you are looking or want to know any information about a car you are looking at, I have the vin#'s for all the MY03's with histories in the US...

The answer is no. Because they "trade" at 160k doesn't mean they will retail at that. Which black are you referencing? Metallic Black or Gloss Black. It makes a difference in pricing and resale. There are several Murcie's available on the various mediums, however a CLEAN car, no stories, lower mileage and Gloss black, will run retail anywhere between 190-200k. This means the car is serviced, possibly had a clutch, no chips, 3M, clean interior, no bolster wear, good tires, and all records/tools/books.

Metallic Black however, would retail back of that a little...maybe 185-195k. Interior color makes a difference too...black/black would be one of the harder colors to find, thus, you'll pay for it. There is one black one floating around, in AZ I believe, that is very cheap...however, there are no service records with the car and no one knows what has or hasn't been done to the car...other than at one point, the entire car was basically covered in 3M.

Back on track though...the internet is a great place to view cars and get an assessment of what people are either asking or hoping for...Manheim is a horrible gauge to use as MOST buyers don't have the connections to be able to purchase through one of the auctions, so using that comp is really unfair and inaccurate for a retail comparrison.

There are some good cars out there...I tell most of my customers the same thing...you can bargain shop if you want, and you'll end up paying for it with the service bill to bring the car up to par. Or, you can shop for a good car, pay a little more now and a lot less later. Either way, it's your dime, it only really matters how you want to spend it. Personally, I'd spend a little more and buy a good, clean, no stories car for the little extra money...it's worth it in the long run.

    Just my .02.

Enjoy the search. Lots to look at out there!

It's just that the price of one of these varied quite a bit. I saw one for example, with higher miles but $5k-10k more expensive. So I don't know how much a good price is on one.

It's not like a normal luxury cars where you can look from kbb and know approximately. I just don't want to pay too much.

Well..I also looked at market value of course along with listed prices such as KBB, NADA, edmunds..So there are many samples I can look at, whereas only market research is available as a guide if you are purchasing an exotic.

That is why I wanted to know, from your experience, how much an 03 spec-ed as I mentioned, usually trade for in a dealer? Because from there you can have a reasonable ballpark of how much it is worth.

Or maybe some of you guys might have negotiated a deal, whereas a car listed at say, $200k, can be had at $xxx price. Since I have never negotiated in purchasing an exotic, I do not know how much the dealer margin is. That is what I wanted to know

    Thanks.

There are 161 Murcie's on DuPont for sale today.

Not really sure if anybody looked, but the economy and gas prices have had just a little effect on spending.

It is a buyers market. These cars are falling and will continue to fall. Don't forget we are within 18 months of a brand new Murcie replacement. Brand new 07 640's (still sitting on dealer floors) are going below 300K. The reality is that Lamborghini makes too many cars for the market place.

I had a friend with a 2002 Murcie with 15,000 miles great condition, all service records. A YEAR ago he got several whole sale bids of 120K. He couldn't get anything above that. What's that car worth today? Not a lot.

The reasons all those 640's are sitting is buyers are much more informed these days. And they don't want to take a 100K bath on a new car. The same thing goes for the used cars. There are a lot for sale. I wouldn't pay over 150K for any non 640 Murcie.

Or you can choose from one of the 389 Gallrado's for sale!

I like what kane said, being a buyer. But even though I agree that this time it is a buyers market, dealers above has said that prices like that are unlikely. Of course, they are dealer (no offense, I understand you are trying to make money), and they want to sell cars at a price as high as they can.

So is what kane said true or is that just me/other buyers' wishful thinking that a clean murci can be had for $150k ?

Your info on your friend's trade are very valuable kane. Assuming they are true, then that is a good gauge of market's pricing.

Has anyone ever bought an 03 clean murci for $150k though? If you have, please PM me, you don't have to post if you feel uncomfortable.

I assume Dealers probably won't tell you even if they did sell at $150k... LOL...

There is no doubt that some day you will be able to buy one for 150K but I don't think so today. I would not be surprised to see one for here and there from a motivated seller for 160k but the key is finding one that everything is perfect. It is real easy to put 10k or 15k into one of these cars that "looks" perfect. Motivated sellers are often motivated by a big looming repair bill.

As a DEALER, I agree and disagree with some of this here..

First of all, SPOT on for Gallardo's, IMO way to many made, different versions Se SL, etc etc...and now with the release of the new 560-4, well standing stock on Delaers lots will nose dive..it is a GREAT time to pick up a NEW and or USED Gallardo for great prices...call me I can get you both..and SPYDERS...well those are even a better buy right now.

Murcies..not the case..I WILL buy any Murcie out there at $150K all day long..just call me..02 cars, decent shape are wholesale price still hovering 150K..03 170K and above, so add 15-20% general mark up for dealers and you can see the retail price range.

The LP640, pretty close again, the car is over priced IMO for what you get from a sub 200K 02-03 Murcie..just not worth the extra bucks..the change for the murcie in 09 is not major IMO..it is just the fact that when you get into a over $400K car...a lot of buyer fall out and go back to a good low mile 1/2 the price car.

It is for sure a BUYERS market right now, but I do not see that for more than a 6-8 month periord...why?

As the allocations are droped for the US and as the cars are snapped up..there will be less and less stock...when we bounce back the cars will rise again as there will be fewer cars to choose from...the old supply and demand rule.

Buy now, if you can, enjoy and sell next year for minium loss IMO>

See, about 2 years ago, it was tuff to discover the true market price on Lamborghini Murcielago's based on the sources that ware avabile to most dealers. Many just relayed on what there gut told them! So I being a numbers guy, decided to hire a full time employee to track the cars market price, and then based on the avg. diffrence between what Lambo's asking is and what they sold for. On avg. a murice had a diffrence between asking price and sold for amount around 2.43% or around $5,000. So the long of the short is we built a very nice database, with vin#'s of almost all the Murcielago's, Diablo's and recently in the last year 360's. And we now we have the asking price of every Murcie, Diablo's and 360 that have been advertised over the last 2 years. We track Dealership, color, and vin#, we pull Autocheck histories on all of them, and have a nice software product, called Car Catalog, that allows to see when a car that is the same, goes to a diffrent dealer, or is offered through some other source, huge miles increases, or miles being offered lower between sources! In the wholesale networks, the guys there always joke with me, because when they have a 360, Diablo, or Murcie pop up, they call me to offer the car, but I always know the car first! So it has became a great value to me as a dealer. Just to understand what is truly moving and for what price, based on industry standards.

We do what we call in house a "asking price index!" Simliar to that of the market letter, but we do year by year break downs, (which gets intresting with MY02's and MY03's) miles break downs, story cars, missing and autocheck alerts, colors, and options. Also we track tax and license information state by state, we can not get your adress but we can see how many have been registared and the tax paid.... Everyday we update new cars, and see if any cars have moved, and if a car like this coupe has been on the market longer then 60 days we call the dealer to see if the car is still there

Brett puts the MY98-99's SV's and Roadsters together for this database, I am not sure why, but I will get a break down done on tuesday...maybe save time today?...MY97.5 seems to bring more, I dont know why, first time with air bags, yet the MY98's have more power, bigger wheels, ABS, and better brakes, so I really have no idea...all we do is track the numbers of cars sold, and listed for sale, and avg them out...some cars like the CT's there are only 12 over the last 10 months.. only 466 roadster ware made, 186 cars in the US total from MY96-99..so on some of these cars it's tuff to get a true out look...even more difficult once you start mixing in cars with histories, and stories...

where did you get the 186 number? i have always heard less than 100. 186 sounds more realistic.

i also think 97 1/2 are worth more. specially yellow ones :)

    I had a yellow MY97.5... :) here is a pic!

Lamborghini made 466 roadsters based on my vin#'s they bring in around 40% of there cars to the US...Lamborghini still bring less then 180 Murcielagos per year to the US...

The only way that you are going to find out what you can buy one for, is to locate the car you like, get a PPI done to se if it passes muster, and then sit down in front of the owner/dealer with your cheque book open, no conditions to be met, and then start talking numbers.........

I have sold cars for 20 years and people come in all the time and say, well the Black Book says this, and the NADA book says this, and whatever book of the week says that.......and I don't care.....you wanna buy my car, sit down and start writing.......maybe today is your lucky day.......maybe not.

If you REALLY have $160k lined up, my suggestion is to contact each owner that has a car listed (that falls into what you're looking for, year, colors, options, miles, etc) and tell them that your budget has a hard cap and would you sell your car for that assuming it passes an inspection, the equivalent of waving money around in a crowded room. I bet more than a couple say OK and you can start negotiating PPIs and such.
