    Chris,

I've got individual (rectangular) filters that I may be getting rid of in the near future. Let me know if you are interested. I bought these from Russ a few years ago.

Good talking to you the other day.

    Happy Holidays

It may be closer than you think.

    1. Look at the height of the secondary venturis - right now they almost touch the top of those filters -- there needs to be about .75" clearence. Look at the mounting lugs on the carbs and note there is a space; that is for a rubber anti vibration gasket used on the stock box.

    2. Did these come with airhorns? That is an entirely separate (and fun) discussion.

    3. You will have clearence for the larger Pierce rectangular air cleaners (like Hank's) which work with stock air horns and have enough 'breathing room' if you are using the stock manifolds.

    4. You always could go to a metal shop and have almost anything made giving them a drawing and measurements. I did that with a dual plenum airbox and K&N cone filter system I used for a while.

This is going to be great!!

yes - the circled piece is the stock air horn. Pierce says it does have acceptable clearence under the rectangular filters as shown. I ran these rectangular filters with the stock air horns for a while and work fine, although you can really hear the induction system!

In addition to what I see, there are oft times phenolic heat insulating spacers between the carbs and the manifold - not very big, but there. I think Pierce has them.

I am not a giant fan of those small air cleaners - if you can, the stock mushroom air horns and the rectangular filters shown before work fine. Don't be surprised - they are LOUD.
    :)

    Thanks for the pictures Chris

I'm trying to see what might be missing. The linkage was one big concern i had. In my package it looks like i only have one.

Russ, you saying i will NEED to get the stock mushroom air horns if i want to go with the single filters?

No, they are not mandatory, but they help airflow.

Since your carbs are original (5 screw) you will also find that the top mounting studs are sized to take a thick rubber gasket to mount the original airbox and the original horns, so you may need to change the studs. Since you have decided to go with the individual filters, I get get Hank's set (my old set) or a new set from Pierce to mount on top of the rubber. They fit under the bonnet and allow use of the mushroom.
Did I mention they are loud? :)

There is also the crankcase breather hose to attend.

Anybody have a picture of the crankcase breather hose on a carb?

He's got them, there covered with paper at the moment. this was the setup I had a few yrs ago and never installed as I wen to the DARK SIDE! I sold them off to another guy here who then sold it to Chris. He should have everything and then some. I got NOS linkage from Ted which is in the pic there on the lower left. the carbs are NOS too, sitting on a shelf in Italy for yrs... they were shrink wrapped when I sold them.

If you use the retangular filters, they come with a right angle fitting on the bottom to attach a breather hose.

What fuel pump are you going to use?

I will also suggest that you DO NOT hook up the starter enrichment system. No need to run that cable to the cockpit.

I was reading your thread on "Fuel Pump Comparison" and you recommend the Facet for carb setup.

Starter enrichment system? Hmmm..... i'll have to put that on "search" and see if you talked about it before.

that's Russ's fancy high faluten word for choke :D your car won't have the all the bits in the dash for it and it really isn't needed unless your out driving in the dead of winter. you could always adapt a electro-solenoid one from cheby/ford carbs and have it pull the cable, but it's more fab $$$.

The 3-4 psi Facet is perfect and will NOT need a regulator; if you want something quieter get a Pierburg.

It technically is not a "choke", but that's what it does. :) You will not really need this so don't run an unnecesary cable.
