Hi, I couldn't find anything here about how to access the instrument lights. Do you need to remove the steering wheel, the whole dash, panel, etc.? Info or a pointer to the proper thread/post would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I just recently completed upgrading the bulbs in my dash cluster. Very simple job. I put in 3.5 watt bulbs in the speedo and it made a noticeable difference in brightness. Simply remove the four indicator lights in the corners and you will be able to see the mounting bolts that hold the dash cluster to the bulkhead. If the 4 lights don't come out easily, try working some dental floss or fishing line around the circumference of the light's bases and give them a little wiggle. It might be a good idea to cover the steering column with a shop towel to keep the dash from scratching the leather on the flat surface and the steering column. A good idea is to always take digital pics each step along the way as this will provide a reference if you run into a problem with re-assembly. Cheers-Colin Firth-Ontario Canada
and if you brake the clips on the warning light housing,no big deal,sigmacars has them for sale,which I bought plenty when I changed out my temp gauge,they always brake
I replaced the bulbs a while go and had no significant difference in lighting. However I did achieve a major increase by cleaning the contacts at the Molex(?) connector behind the panel.
If you don't take the dimmer switch out of the equation, you may see little to no increase in brightness. Also, sometimes people actually change out the wrong bulbs. They are not necessarily intuitive.

Sorry, forgot to mention...I did clean the dimmer pot/reostat...that helped a smidge, but not significant. Bypassing it didn't help either. For me, it was the oxidized connectors.
