As many of you know I was deployed to Iraq a couple of months ago. I am a Platoon leader in an Infantry company. We are doing convoy escorts all over the place. I took over this platoon about a month ago and Morale is SUPER LOW!!. Our missions are very long sometimes 10 to 13 days. Even though we are very well connected with the outside world through internet and phones. The feeling of receiving a letter is as the saying goes PRICELESS. So here goes, it would be great if maybe a group of my fellow F-chatters can send care packages or even have your kids write letters to my soldiers. It would mean a lot to them. When Morale is low is when mistakes happen. This little gesture can make a big difference. If anybody is interested pm me and I will send a list of my soldiers names with the address here in Iraq. Thanks everybody.

I am on the same boat as the OP's. I have experienced the soldiers morale and it is very low. At most times they feel very unappreciated even when trying to do everything you can in the sand box. It goes a long way for the soldiers when they recieve something other than an email or phone call. Something physical does help. Overall the experience is at times overwhelming, tiring and long durations in the heat not to mention side BS they have to endure. The little things help them. I appreciate the OP's posting this and those who PM him with little support.

I really appreciate everybodys support. One of the things I was thinking that would be great is to send anything Ferrari related, Ferrari magazines, maybe track videos etc. Oh also a big thing over here if laundry detergent. For some reason that is the one thing that the PX is always out of. Thanks again everybody. I will pm the Alpha Roster to the people interested, Also if anybody can get in touch with the Ferrari Club and propose this idea to them ADOPT A PLATOON IN IRAQ, that would also help out a lot.

WOW I can't thank everybody enough. I have received your PM's I am still on mission believe or not. I will send you all the Alpha roster as soon as I get back. The sand storms have delayed us a bit. Should be back in a couple of days and will have more time to respond to everybody's pm's. I only have 30minutes and the internet is very very very very slow. Here are some PIC's of me and some of my guys.

If I may, asking for the name of one soldier may be putting Antonio on the spot. A platoon has roughly 40 to 50 men. The military teaches, and rightly so, that is "all for one, and one for all." So it may be better to send a generic letter to all 50. Or to send laundry soap. Or candy bars. Or car mags. Or whatever.

    Just a thought.

My cousin in Phoenix started MOM, mothers of marines, and has been on national news etc.

She is VERY VERY adapt at doing these sendings of care packages.

Will get in touch with her, I remember puting together a whole warehouse full of such with her group such as tooth brushes etc. etc.etc.

and a lot of things, well, ya' probably will want to give away.

    thanks for your service.

Thanks everybody for all the support. I think the easiest way to do this is if you guys want to send some care packages send it to the following address:

    The address is:

    Sanchez Antonio (ATTN: 2nd PLATOON)
    TRP C 1-151 CAV
    COB ADDER, TALLIL
    APO AE 09331

I will then distribute among my soldiers. Again I really appeciate the support, I will send back a signed picture of my platoon.

PS: On a sad note we had our first death a couple of days ago.
