You have a point and your point helps explain what I am trying to say ... in a way.

You have to have challenges to learn, don't you?. Surely we all agree with that :).

So how can putting a young and talented driver in a car that even Webber could win with, help raise that young and talented driver to his peak?. It doesn't. It gives that young and talented driver 2 things, ie: he thinks he is fast enough and thus does not dig any deeper, and over confidence.

The second part is what happened to LH in the second half of last year, and caused the McLaren team squabble that ultimately cost that team a WDC ... assuming that Bernie was going to allow it anyway ;).

Thus putting a young guy in a not so good car makes them find speed within. We all remember watching MS in the late 90's Ferraris and it was awesome watching him just getting better and better and faster. Lifting those cars way beyond what they should have been capable of. Even watching Alonso in the Minardis was simply lucky ... loved every second of it.

I'm pissed that we are never going to see LH do that, instead we are going to witness another Damon Hill. LH will start from the front and win at a cruise, because he IS good and so is his car. Yes LH started from 4th this time but by all accounts Webber did his usual and melted under the pressure and allowed LH to effectively start a row up ... might as well have started from pole.

If LH HAD started in a TR, we would have all thoroughly enjoyed watching him perform miracles, watched his car dance from each sidewall edge to the another sidewall edge on the absolute limit ... it would have been beautiful and so captivating. I would have returned to getting up in the middle of the night just to sit enthralled at LH demonstrating his skill ... instead I watch (when I can be bothered) a McLaren on rails as LH is so obviously cruising at 95% :(. Yeah I'm selfish, but winning is NOT what it is all about ... making your car dance to your tune is what I love about motorsport. I hated the early 2000 years of dominance of MS (I did enjoy 2001 though ofcourse) ... as it was so obvious that MS was just cruising way below his ability. Those that loved those years simply don't get it ... how we were robed by Ferrari finally making very good cars. Even MS must have been bored surely.

Pete, I bet you that if Ron didn't put him in a Mclaren last year Lewis was going to break his contract and go somewhere else and being that Ron knew how good Lewis was, he could not let him go to another team for a couple of years.

BTW according to Frank Williams Lewis did go to Williams in 2005 (IIRC) wanting an F-1 seat but Theissen didn't want to spend the money to buy Lewis's contract ; instead LH reluctantly had to spend a year in GP2.

IMHO I always see (and enjoy) Hamilton on the limit 100% of the time and . Even in Monaco and Silverstone his lap times in the last stint were quicker than everyone elses, and this is coming from a long time Ferrari fan.

Jensen Button was originally under contract with Williams when he went to Honda (I think it was Honda) to learn the ropes. Ron could have had LH under contract and put him in say a Red Bull or something.

    Anyway ... just my opinion.

That's what Kimi's manager claimed as well. Hamilton was not able to get anything out of the Michelins.

Hami dominated today and showed why many think that he is the second coming. He just needs to mature and learn how to win the WDC.
