Which begs the question, who is?

Have always enjoyed exploring a makes engineering flavour almost as much as its performance.
That requires you to do all yourself or pal up with a good breed specialist who's happy for you to hang out in the shop etc
Have been lucky in the past but don't have a clue where to start with F-cars up around the QLD / NSW border.

I did a couple of thousand km's in a 4200 Coupe which was interesting as I cancelled an order for one when my brand new 360 left me stranded FIVE times on the side of the road. I reasoned that I couldn't put up with that in a daily driver, so I bought the CSL instead. The 4200 loan car was interesting because I just didn't like the thing. Sounded great; but the ergonomics were shocking and the build quality felt cheap. I have also done a couple of thousand km's in various Alfa diesel loan cars. The first one went into "limp home" mode constantly and you had to turn it off to reset it, which worked about 50% of the time. The current Alfa diesel is brand new and runs fine; but the BMW diesel engines run rings around Alfa's.

So the score since I got the Maserati in early March (4 months late!) is 7200km's in Maserati GT. Over 6000 km's were without ASR, active suspension and permanently illuminated brake lights with 3 visits back to dealer. Another 2500 km's in a loan 4200 Coupe and another 2000 km's in Alfa Diesels.

BTW, with regard to the injection moulded plastic pedal box, it is apparently quite common in modern cars- including the Ferrari line up.

I forgot to mention that the door trim was also torn on the lift while the GT was in the service department. The promised fix also has yet to eventuate; but I suspect that will be easier to get right than the electronics

Why bother with a 250, just wait until you can buy what you want. I started on a 916 SP :)

So its not just Phil that needs multiple goes at fixing something?

    What can one say?Stunned silence......

My gut feeling is they have NFI how to fix it, BUT the worst thing is your putting up with it, you must be a good man!

Cheap Italian cars for the masses are bomb proof.ie Punto, Panda, Uno etc

The more you pay, and the higher up the food chain, the worse it gets i seems.

I sold a $60k Italian car for $950, and still struggled to move it, a Alfa 164, still it was all profit, the car came with a house i purchased lol garage-find!

    Ciao,

    M
