Very sad Wish we had some abandoned by me, i'd rescue one! (Although, mum wouldn't be happy for another car in the garage ) Edit: just searched and found this: abandoned 575 in Baghdad Some more of the 575 (and VIN), was messed up by American troops http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/10456_album/Scrap575Uday.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/10456_album/Scrap5753.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/10456_album/scrap5752.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/10456_album/scrap5751.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/10456_album/scrap5754.jpg And look what Uncle Sam did to this Lamborghini LM002; later they used it as a toy to test effects of car bombs blowing it to pieces http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/10456_album/UdayHusseinsLM002iftheyonlyknew.jpg
May be it is due to the dream to discover one abandonned F-car somewhere in a street, or forest, or wherever. There is a Mondial, that the owner never drove since 15 years next to my home : crazy... Not really abandonned, but near the same.
i hear u. I DROVE HOME EVERY DAY FOR 3 YEARS AND A Mondial sat in this guys driveway.. rain, sleet, snow covered every day until the red paint was a nice whitish hue and the FOR SALE sign was so damn faded. but one day it was gone. I dont envy the guy that got it. Wanted to tell him look just throw it in my garage I WILL TAKE CARE OF IT or at least get it out of the elements and clean up that finish. people.....
Unless you were actually there, can you say for certain who stripped Uday Hussein's 550? No, you can't.....but you continue to perpetuate that US soldiers had something to do with the fate of Uday Hussein's 550, which is really annoying.
I believe it was torched by the Husseins to hide the evidence or something like that. It was not burned by the troops. The LM002, they thought, was just a regular old SUV nothing special. Carried out their car bomb demonstration and once they returned home they researched the car and were gutted when they found out the regular old SUV they blew up was infact a Lamborghini.
my first post!!! well, i look at these cars and am deeply sad in the fact i hope and dream to own a ferrari on day (i dont care what kind) and people just throw them away...ohh well, there is alway hope...
There's plenty of our guys dying out there too thanks. To an extent it seems the Ferarri was looted aswell as burned, but the link to the Lamborghini CLEARLY shows with pictures that the American army used it for bomb practice. http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7383/baghdadferrari575dw6.png http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/LM002/UdayHussein.html So, i am wrong as i don't have evidence to back it up. Im just going to leave my thoughts here, and forget about it. There is only hear/say evidence to suggest that the US Army had anything to do with the destruction of the Ferrari. My sincerest apologies to any inconvenience caused to you.
I see it in another post... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=759181&stc=1&d=1215009363
Not sick, just realistic,.....or at least wishfully realistic. There is always a wild chance of finding a barn Ferrari and buying it cheap and restoring/tinkering with the car. There is virtually ZERO chance of finding a 250GTO or a P3 in a barn and buying it at any price.
The fact of the matter is, many of the Hussein car collection was found (including Saddam Hussein's Testarossa) were recovered by US Troops, and spared the fate that befell Uday's 550 Maranello. None of these cars were pillaged/looted by US Troops, but turned over to the Interim Govt. for safekeeping or disposition - many of the vehicles still exist. CNN recently reported that several of the Hussein cars were recovered after Iraqi Police uncovered a theft ring who had conspired to steal and sell some of the vehicles overseas. Several of the vehicles recovered included a Plymouth Prowler, a Stutz Blackhawk, and a pair of Rolls.....no word regarding the fate of this car: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a truck, trailer, and a good home for one of those unloved ferrari's if someone want to part with them.
that's the one: wasn't there a wire framed body in the rest of that series? Think that was somewhere near Marenello, right?
If those are real, that's got to be a $2,000,000+ abandoned collection. What is that down at the end a Mille Miglia??
I love these types of pictures, and I have barn find/abandoned pictures cars like BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, and of course, Ferrari. Is it ok if I post barn find pictures of other cars? Fyi, I took none of these pictures and some of them are probably pulled from somewhere on this website. Calm down now. Wasn't that photo taken in the back lot of the Hietbrink shop in the Netherlands? http://www.hietbrink.com/ Not really abandoned at all. Just their tools of the trade.
