?

How should we identify deceased fchatters?

  1. Change their status to indicate their passing (ie, deceased, etc)

  2. Create a separate section for 'in memorium' - public access

  3. Create a separate section for 'in memorium' - subscribed only

  4. Other - please specify

i agree, and voted as such. the family members, relatives, and friends may wish to come to see the thread. some of the relatives may not have known about the details of the persons Ferrari passion.

having to subscribe and log in would be disrespectful to the family, IMHO.

Ferrari Chat will be on the InterWeb forever, so we can all look forward to a tomb to rest our screen name in.

now go drive and have some safe fun!

    :) michael

I agree to the first two but you should make available to non subscribed members to be able to post, I am sure some of there family and friends that have never been on F-chat would probably like to share some of there stories about that member and their passion of Life and autos.

hey everyone, yes, we'll do something, haven't had a chance to read through the thread and think on it myself. Some type of title and special forum appears to be a start, I'll have to workout the details. thanks.

agree with most: Perhaps changing their avitar to have a wreath about it would help, at least me.

But def. indicating they are gone, as it wouldn't be cool to PM or such someone who will never be responding.

Perhaps a sub-thread with nominations for other members to be admitted to the special status....

Perhaps theres a way to direct all posts in this deceased section to the mods for approval before being posted up. I know it will add to their workload but it will allow for those deceased members to only be shown in a postive light. Don't want those with any beef towards the deceased to be able to air out their dirty laundry.

Perhaps you could also put deceased where it says if a members subscribed or not and "With Enzo" as their location, as others have said.

My prayers and well wishes are with you. I've had to watch almost everyone around me since I was a kid suffer or pass because of the big C.

Stay positive and continue to live life to the fullest. My best to you and your family..

I read this thread early on and thought it was a bad idea. Only because after a month or so depending on what threads they posted in it would be for not. Now that I came back to see talk of creating a special section I think that makes sense, also for reasons already stated it has to be public. If a bad post comes up it can always be deleted.

I voted for "other" and here are my reasons. I would suggest making a special sections as has been mentioned and allow public access, however, I would lock the threads out so that no additional comments could be made. The threads would possible include links to past threads made by the deceased and include additional info about that member added in by the mods.
Sad we have to be discussing this topic, but great to be able to remember and cherish past members and their contributions!

Deceased members already have a special status; they're dead!

I think that these ideas sound better then they really would be if implemented. There is very little interest in yesterday's news!
