Been away from the t for a few weeks, and the battery is too low to turn. Where are the battery posts (to jump start) the car located? Am I blind?

The battery itself is tucked away in front. Too hard to get to, so I assume there are remote posts.

    THANKS.

Can't help you on the location of the posts, but it sounds like you need to get a battery tender on that thing!!!!
    Good luck!

I believe the t is similar to the 3.2 in that there are no remote posts - you just have to get in there. Perhaps a t owner can chime in. I've also heard that you should not jump start a Motronic car - you might want to post over in the 348 section to be sure.

I've also heard (and should verify), that if the battery has gone poop, the Motronic 'forgets' its setting and you need to let it run a while as it re-sets itself.

Wish I could be more specific, these are things I've heard in passing you may want to check out.

    Good luck!

Use the bolt & nut positive post directly behind the passenger headlight in the front bonnet area above the battery. Any chassis ground will do.

    Ditto...

Never jump a 348 or a Mondial t ---- you can fry the Motronic ECU's in these cars.

Remove the battery, and have it charged fully. Then go out and purchse a high quality (with solid state isolated electronics) on-board, battery tender.

I used to push start my 328 back in the 80's.

Well....good bad or indifferent, I tried to push and jump start it. Couldn't get enough speed, so there I was in the middle of the neighborhood -- out of hills. I removed the metal plate in front of the passenger wheel, and somehow snuck a set of jumper cables in there. Voila ! Then went on an hour drive.

Now in reading the above, SHOULD I NOT HAVE JUMPED IT? Is the concern over the Motronic just fear, or a real concern? I'd like to know for next time. I might run out and get a tender, although I've never gone three weeks without a drive until now, so it might not be a problem for the future. Just got busy at work, and had commitments on the w/e.

If you can afford the car you can afford the charger. I suggest you get one so you can avoid this in the future. It's not a good idea to jump it.

I read somewhere its also never a great idea to use the alternator to charge the battery from completely flat like that - it puts a big load through it.

Hi, what is the conclusion? Should a portable jump starter be used on the Mondial T ?

It is impossible to reach the battery's positive pole.

Also, is it safe to push the car to a low speed and start it?

This has to do with the characteristics of the portable jump starter used. Some use a very high voltage like 20-24V (this is, or was?, common on tow truck equipment). If you connected another 12V battery in parallel to you existing battery = no issue (but your "dead" battery would probably droop down the voltage to only something like 9-10V as it steals current from the added battery).

How about jump starting other vehicles with your Mondial or other 80's F?

The OEM Euro group battery was less tall than the Group 34 often used now in the US cars, hence why there is so little room for a jumper cable.

Put on an extension for a battery charger hook up.

Some people have put in remote posts for jump starting, I recall a thread on that.
