I've heard there were less than 100 308's imported. I have a euro 308 in Grigio, I was wondering just how many of those 100 were grigio (gray metalic). If someone knows the answer to this it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I'd agree. There were over 10,000 308s made, and 7,000 328s, and the U.S. was a huge market for Ferrari by the 1980s.

I don't have the stats, but I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of each of those numbers were exported to the States.

Well when you find the answer, see if you can find out how many are still in the States VS exported and scrapped

I recently read in a Ferrari book that there were 21000 and some change 308s made in all of the years, I'm not sure of the amount that was imported to the US, but I'll check again for reference.

Its probably close 50% or maybe a bit less made it to the USA. Although one has to consider whether the original poster was are talking just US spec cars or Euro cars that were were imported by gray market dealers.

I can recall looking 328s with my father when I was growing up and they were readily available for sale in the early years. There were no wait lists on 328s at least not until sometime in late 1988/1989. I'm sure that our local dealer was not the biggest dealer back then so maybe others got more cars per month. I believe our dealer got one 328 per month, but some months they did not seem to get any 328s. If one figures there were maybe 50 Authorized dealers back then, if a dealer got 12 cars a year: 12 cars x 50 dealers is 600 per year. Over the course of 4 years thats 2,400 cars. Maybe some bigger dealers got 2 cars a month? which would bring the figure closer to 3,000+ cars.

I'd love to have an actual figure as to how many US spec cars came here. I once read in a dealer's advertisement that 150 328s came in per year, but that seems way too low since the US is such a big market for Ferrari.

    Best regards,
    Dino

I should have been more clear, I meant that there were less than 100 EURO 308's imported to the US, not the US spec cars, sorry....

The 328GTB/GTS range is Ferrari’s most successful road car ever with 8412 sales. During the 328s first full year of production in 1986, Ferrari’s overall productivity hit a new record high of 3640 road cars.

Such was Ferrari’s attention to detail when producing the 328 that each cars engine was built and tested by one mechanic to ensure a high level of care and to cut down on mistakes.

Although not normally a firm to hide its light under a bushel, Ferrari was surprised to learn it had initially under-recorded the 328’s performance. Both the UK’s MotorSport magazine and Road and Track in the US shaved more than a second off the then official 0-100mph time.

All good and interesting information, but how many are left in the States?
You hear for cars being scrapped (I guess we all benifit from that!)and cars being shipped out of the country.....probably not as many as came in gray market, but that would be interesting number too.
How rare are our cars here and is there a break down for model, year, color and option still remaining ?
