+1. You can count on one hand how many "talented drivers" the Captain has fired over the last four decades... A nice publicity stunt to fill the half-empty seats at Edmonton. It's such a shame Marco doesn't have the maturity to match his talent.
I believe the Captain fired PT because his learning curve included the destruction of too much equipment.
hence the longevity of people like Big Al, Rick Mears and co. Ever wonder why Mario wasn't on the Captain's short list?
Absolutely, one begins to question all these "second gen" drivers. always been the same, remember Hans Stuck, Damon Hill, but JV gave it a good shot though? Still a better bet than brethren though historically I believe? Especially in the same genre of racing, surely nobody really rated Ralfie? the Rodrigues brothers were special, maybe others I can't recall at present.
The Fabi bros also, Teo certainly could have with better luck gone far. Won't mention the Andrettis......
From a different era.... none of these recently, probably Al Jr since he did run successfully in various formulas. followed in the other family traditions too unfortunately.....
I watched him get beaten by Gerardo Bonilla in Skippy Nationals until Gerardo made a stupid mistake. I saw him do a mediocre job in Star Mazda, and for 3 years in a row he's made stupid rookie mistakes driving for his own team in Indy cars. I honestly don't think he's that talented, and would sooner take Graham Rahal.
