    A friend of mine bought a hearse in Arkansas & needs to transport it back to Fort Worth, if anyone has a trailer we could use to transport a 7000 lbs + vehicle please PM me for the details.

    Don't think my flat can handle that much weight, most I've put on there is 3500 lbs. I know the enclosed can't handle it and I'm still trying to get title from the Ferrari owner I bought it from 4 years ago!

    For the weight involved, cost, and just to make things easy I recommend a tow dolly from U-Haul, that will be the cheapest and actually least load on your tow vehicle.

    I was thinking the same thing which maybe a lot easier unless the back end is too low & drags.

    The car will not start & I'm not even sure it's in road worthy condition.

    You can also tow bar with all 4 tires on the ground, requires special attachment points on the towed car though.

    Better make sure the tow vehicle is also up for carrying that load. I know with a trailer that car would exceed the safe limits of my F250 PSD.

    Are you sure it weighs that much? I had a limo once that wasn't that heavy.. I have a trailer you are welcome to, but it wont carry that much weight, maybe 5k max..

    You also need to consider with a tow bar that the wagon wouldn't help with braking as would a trailer with brakes.

    Maybe confirm that the 7000lbs is truly tare not gvw. Seems high, unless it's armored, but that would seem to be unneccessary given its application. If so you'll probably need to flatbed it if it's undrivable or arrange for an uprated trailer and tow vehicle. My full size pickup is only good for 7900lbs all in for the trailer.

    I thought the weight was kind of high as well, even older Rolls & Bentleys don't even weigh that much. I put in a call in for him to get the full specs of the hearse. He has the truck to handle the towing so that's not going to be an issue. Thanks for everyones insight & I'll keep you posted.

    Funny! About 4500 to 5k sounds more like it. 1/2 ton pickups weigh 5k.

    correction, 79 caddy hearse weighs in at 6000lbs according to the net.

    The '71 Caddy hearse should be here in about a week, I spoke to the owner today & it's being shipped on a flatbed pulled buy a semi for $250. The weight is correct, it's close to 7000 lbs. The interior slab the coffin sits on weighs in at 1500 lbs alone. I'll get some photos of it when it arrives, working on this should be a lot of fun.
