Congrats Jay. I'm sure you are savoring the drives in the car after all those countless hours working on it. Hope you rewarded the flashlight holder (see Page 1) with a ride. Enjoy it!!!

Thanks a ton for sharing your 30k service experience with us.:)

    Thanks for the comments guys!

Most importantly I need to thank the generous members of Ferrarichat who contributed all the great posts I learned from - hopefully there's a few more useful tips in this thread for the next DIY'er who wants to dive in. Ernie, Dave Helms, jetfixr, DrFerrari, Terry, the whole crew...thanks for answering my many questions!

Are those FNE plates? I'd love the irony having a prancing horse plate on the AMG! Went to the Tutto Italiano today in Boston, great meet!

I still have 4 extra 'Ferrari' stencils from painting my brakes, up for grabs if someone is planning to do the same. Send me a PM with your address and they're yours.

One last detail...the shield on the bottom of the engine which protects the F1 actuator from the elements had been ripped in half and apparently repaired once. I forgot to take a pic, but it was in rough shape and not doing much of anything. Soooo...with all this spare time on my hands not having an engine to put back in anymore I made up a new shield, thin stainless steel sheet on one side, carbon fiber on the outside. Original was grey fiberglass same as the CV boot shields.

ok maybe now it's done....eh, who am I kidding, there's always SOME component to upgrade *S*

    Nice Jay.

I assume you are gonna be putting the aluminized fiberglass heat shielding on the underside of that?

Ernie - look close at that center hole, you can see the metal underside. It's a thin sheet of stainless steel. This isn't really for heat anyway, it sits on the bottom of the engine.

JDM-NZ - absolutely, DIY carbon fiber :D Needed to learn something new...
