Only the Poms want historic Loti - all the significant cars will go directly to the UK or will be bought by dealers here and resold in UK. Watch the classifieds in Motorsport in 2 months time.

The auctioneer talking about keeping them here is just running a line to get media attention. They only care about their commission and the family will take anybody's money.

As for the 4WD HOS, imagine telling your partner, "Hi Honey, I've just bought the car that spat John D-D off the road and killed him."

Mr Chapman killed too many good drivers with his "add lightness" flimsy-car philosophy. Mario Andretti used to get his own brake pedals made in steel, he wouldn't drive with the titanium pedals Chapman designed. Others weren't so smart and ended up in a wheelchair.

That Lotus 25 is a gorgeous machine and will go to one of the big collectors over here I'm sure. Shame it will go out of Oz, but at least I'll get to see it in action over here sometime! Sounded good at Eastern Creek when I last saw it...
