I put an order in about a week ago but haven't heard anything. Does anybody know how long it takes to get the blocks?

Just a plug. I used his fuseblocks and they CURED my "dead at the gas pump" thread wherein my car simply failed to start on a couple of occasions. My only question is why Birdman doesn't use the typical flat dime-sized auto fuses in his blocks? But what he's got works too, so I guess there's no problem.

It took a couple of weeks to get mine, but it was worth the wait. While you're waiting you should go ahead and pick up some comparable amperage SAE fuses and then when it arrives, you'll be up and running in about an hour.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the kudos. My new TV show is taking up a lot of my time and I build the blocks in my short periods of downtime between travels and kids. So, unfortunately, sometimes it can take a couple of weeks. I try very hard not to make people wait that long because I know how it is when you need something for the fcar and you can't wait!

Andrew, I'm not a fan of the flat fuses. My opinion is that they don't have enough contact area. I feel that even though the glass "tube" type AGC fuse is a little outdated in cars these days because it is physically larger, it is still superior in electrical performance because of the way the fuseholders grab the ends of the fuses so securely. Also, the glass fuses retain much of the original look of the OEM fuseblocks, which some people prefer.

If I ran for President, I could never get elected. I'm a Libertarian! ;) But thanks for the nomination Doug! Hey, you can write me in....can't be any worse than the current choices on the ballot...

We should all remember that Jon has a second job. Occasionally he's "out of the office" (underwater). I can guarantee that you'll love his fuseblocks - so much better than the crappy OEM ones!

I'll add more kudos for the Birdman!! Love the fuseblocks; they did wonders to my 308's electrical system. Simply the best out there. And the other info he provides on his website is invaluable. Thanks Bird.

Plus, any man who swims with sharks on a regular basis deserves our respect!!! Keep up the good work, my friend!

    Hi all,

I'm currently providing some TLC to a friend's '85 QV. He has a set of these fuse blocks and told me if I felt up to it, I could install them. It doesn't look overly difficult, but I'm curious if there are any tips, tricks, or pitfalls to watch out for? Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks!

** Take close-up pictures of your old fuse blocks-wires , draw a diagram and number the wires BEFORE you begin, I know it's overkill but you only have to do it once, they'll last forever.
Then just transfer them one at a time, that's the way I did it. it's been 3 years and they still work flawlessly.
It's the single best mod you can do on a 308, your car will thank you, every time you turn the key.

Replacing the O.E.M. fuse blocks with Birdmans blocks has fixed every electrical problem (including starting issues) that my car had. For all you new 308 owners out there, This is the single best thing you can do for your car, and your sanity!

do these boxes help for headlights? i recently had my alternator rebuilt and upgraded to 85 amps, but my interior lights and headlights still seem very weak. worse yet is when the headlights are on and i hit the breaks, my red dash light illuminates slightly. would a birdman box fix this problem?

Well, do that BUT look at your wiring diagram also. Turns out that on my 308 some of the wires were incorrectly placed on the original fuse-blocks.

What will make a big difference to your headlights is to add a secondary headlight relay harness that powers the headlights thru a fuse to the battery. (Search Tech Q&A for 'headlight', 'relay', and harness.)

The red alternator light glowing is the alternator not delivering enough power. If the engine is idling when this occurrs, but it doesn't occurr with the engine at 2500 rpm or more, then it may be normal. If it occurrs 2500 rpm or higher, then check to see if someone has put high wattage headlight bulbs in, if not, then the alternator should be tested.
