    My black key fob, the only fob I have for my 575M, is dying because the battery is getting weak, I believe. I have a new set of three fobs coming from Boardwalk, but am afraid they will not make it in time before mine dies completely. Does anybody know which battery the fobs use so I only have to take it apart once? Any help appreciated.

    Take it apart at 'radio shack' they should have the battery in stock along with the screwdriver to disassemble it.

    Just go to Radio Shack and they'll put it in for you. I was there less than 5 minutes.

    Juan, Rix- Thanks. Probably a good idea and I can pick up a couple of spares while I am there. Watches are another hobby of mine and the screwdriver is no problem.

    Took my one black key fob to Radio Shack today, but they were too chicken to open it so I did. The fobs use a Type 23A 12V alkaline battery or equivalent, available nearly anywhere for $3-6. Might be a good idea to have a couple in your glove box. You need a jeweler's small Phillips head screwdriver to open the case. Fairly large battery for such a small remote and it looks like a small AAA size flashlight battery, only shorter.

    My remote's battery must have been on its last legs because it would not unlock the doors, but would disarm the alarm after using the key to open the door and putting the keys in the ignition. Now it will unlock the doors and disarm the alarm, which cheered me up a great deal.
