How likely would you be to go on the trip from September 18-21?

  1. 90-100% sure I would go, I can't resist a fun trip! :D

  2. 60-90% sure I would go, I like to have fun when work / family allow. :)

  3. 30-60% sure I would go, I rarely get to have fun. :(

  4. I'm just building my post count, I really don't like fun... ;)

If we can agree on the dates I will look into the accomodation options and flight options for the dates, if I can get a head count on those who intend to attend. From the thread I cant tell how many. Please confirm who can attend on the tentative dates listed and I will start the research?

...now that could be interesting. September 20-21 is a SCCA SARRC invitational in Road Atlanta.

    That opens two possibilities:

    1. Gaby and I may be up there
    2. We may be able to haul a second car as a pay load

The dates are from Thursday, September 18th until Sunday, September 21st. However, the cars will be picked up a day early, so they're there on time for us.

Airfare: Airtran & Delta currently have direct, non-stop flights from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta for $256/roundtrip. We should try to decide on times, and all take the same flights.

Shipping: I am awaiting some responses from some additional shipping co's. Each truck can hold 6 cars. So, we will need to book in groups of 6. I requested quotes for 2 trucks (12 cars) to pick up at Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, deliver to Ferrari of Atlanta on Thursday. Then, reverse logistics on Sunday. So far, the quotes are around $1,200 - $1,500 round trip, enclosed transport.

Hotel: I will get with Duane, BT, and Mike to plan accomodations.

    More detals to follow............

Shipping quotes are all coming in at about the same amounts.......... figure somewhere around $1,300 -$1,400 +/-, plus any tip to the driver at your descretion.

This price is for round-trip, enclosed transport, and includes the 'wait charge'. The 'wait charge' is because of the small time window between drop-off and return pick up. To ensure the transport trucks will be there on Sunday morning to pick all the cars up again, they will just wait for us.

We will need to place a significant deposit within the next several weeks to hold/reserve the trucks. Each truck holds six (6) cars. So, we will be booking this trip on a first-come, first-serve, basis in groups of 6.

Once we have the other details ironed out and communicated to you in the next few weeks, you will need to reserve your space with us and pay us a deposit quickly since we need to have all or nothing on the transport trucks to get this pricing. In other words, once we have the first 6 people reserved, if you're the 7th person, you will go on a wait list until we get to 12 people. If we get to 12, and you're the 13th person, you will go on a wait list until we get 18 people.

Having logged many miles in western NC, it sounds like a great trip. Wish I could go, but I'll be at Goodwood Revival...something I enjoy almost as much as driving the GTC (or the 914/6!).

    Have fun!

    Jack.

If I only need auto transport one way. Would I still need to pay the full round trip price?

No. We can also get some additional space on trucks for individuals and/or one way shipping. However, individual rates are around $750-$850 +/- each way.

The rates I quoted in my previous posts ($1,300-$1,400 round trip) are discounted rates based upon a group rate for filling the trucks round trip.

This is the style of the type of cabin we will be looking into renting. I will discuss the parrticulars with Fred. I'm guessing you high rollers will require paved driveway and road access.

I can see it has a paved driveway, but not sure about the neighborhood. I'm low rent, so I will likely rent the same place I had last October if we have more attendees than there is space for.

The Campbell Run was discussed last night at the inaugural meeting of the blue ribbon "Campbel committee" just prior to the Bill Olenick memorial dinner at the venerable Champpppps restaurant in the heart of Cypress Creek. Get ready to book it up in the next few days. If anyone is planning on going but will be either driving up or trailering their own vehicle (instead of using the semi-truck transportation), please let me know via email or PM.

It looks like the best bet for lodging is going to be monument place, an upscale new home with parking for 10+ cars. It is on a paved road, with a very easy (almost flat) gravel drive. Check the pictures at www.panoramicplaces.com . It has 9 beds total (7 king / queen + 2 futons).

sorry I missed the conversation yesterday, oppps or was that on purpose ; )
AND YES twe should have a paved road, BUT with Fred working on the event, I KNOW that I will NOT have any worries. BUT I am sure that he WILL consider ALL of the cars regarding parking / lodging for the machines and NOT just his -

    Right FRED ??? ??? ???

The only rental cabins that have paved road access and paved driveways are in my opinion not as nice as the one listed above. Having a very short gravel driveway should not be problematic in my opinion. If Robert and Fred are adamant about all paved including the driveway then we will go that route. Let's see who actually ponies up the $1400 or whatever for transport, then we will pick the lodging. Oddly enough , the owner of Monument Place said "If I had a $200,000 car, I would not hesitate to drive it to the front steps of the rental." I told him we would likely have 3-4X that amount in the value of the cars attending.

    Looks great!!!

How far is it from where we discussed driving/lodging? It shows that it can accomodate 8-10 people, but that may inclusive of couples, and therefore may only accomodate 5 or so singles. Please check. Also, please see if there are additional simmilar places close by, so we have room for more people. Let's chat later today.

    Guys,

We are close to having everything finalized, and will need deposits within the next few weeks from anyone who intends on going. Please make sure you check with your other 1/2, arrange family stuff, arrange work stuff, etc., so you know FOR SURE if you are going or not within the next week or so. Once deposits are recieved, and we are booked, they will be non-refundable, unless someone takes your place.

    Here's the breakdown again:

    Dates = September 18-21
Auto Transport = $1,200-1,400 round trip enclosed.
Airfare = $200 +/- round trip (if we book soon!)
Cabin/Accomodations = $250 +/- (depends on the exact location & how many people)
    Food/Gas/other = whatever you spend.

Here's the plan: The day before we leave (Wednesday, the 17th), all of the cars will be picked up by the transport company at a designated location in Fort Lauderdale. On Thursday morning (the 18th), we will fly from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta. We well take a shuttle from the Airport to Ferrari of Atlanta, where we will get to visit Will and take delivery of all the cars. We will then drive north to check into the cabins. After checking in, we will have a weekend of fun - driving the country roads (we will have maps with suggested drives/loops). On Sunday morning (the 21st), we will drive back to Ferrari of Atlanta, where the cars will be re-loaded back onto the transport trucks. We will take a shuttle back to the airport and fly home. The day after we get back (Monday, the 22nd), the transport trucks will deliver the cars back at the designated location in Ft. Lauderdale.

If you have any questions, PM me.
