The credit for the timeless, and in my opinion, most well balanced, graceful and beautiful Ferrari ever, goes to Leonardo Fioravanti working at Pininfarina at the time. He is also responsible for the Daytona, and the Boxer, of course he was just warming up! Although, i believe he is still alive, sadly he is no longer designing cars. He would be well put to use these days at Ferrari with their horrible designs. My 308 still turns heads, the Catherine Denueve of the car world!

The 308GTSi has always been my favorite (along with the 288 GTO) for the past quarter of a century and I remember once reading that the two most beautiful words in the English language are "My Ferrari."

Three months ago I finally fulfilled my dream of having an original (except for the QV spoiler and Scuderia badges) rosso corsa, tan beauty sitting with the in my shop and being able to legitimately say with a proud grin "My Ferrari." Sure, it might be the least powerful of the marque (the '82 2V) but this old girl can still really put a grin on your face when it comes on song. As other members with 308s can attest to, if you are in the witness protection program these are certainly not the car to tool around town in as even the blue-haired ladies take a second look when they see it.

I have put 5,000 trouble free miles on the car since early May and I haven't even bothered to put my old restored motorcycle on the road or the track this summer as I am in the Ferrari every chance I get and this includes having five or six dozen different people along for the ride. This might be their only chance to have a ride in a Ferrari and I am happy to show off the old girl to them. Luckily I am self-employed so I find myself arriving late and leaving early if the roads are dry so I can go for a little squirt to keep the testosterone flowing.

To me the 308 design has the sexiest lines to ever be laid down on four wheels and it is quite simply a timeless classic like Sofia Loren, Jackie Bissett and Christie Brinkley (insert your own favorite femme fatale here....) The newer exotics just don't do it for me like the lines of the 308 but then again I have been with the same lady for nearly 30 years so I guess my taste leans towards the timeless beauties (like my bride...)

As a side note, last week I was at Maranello Motors just outside of Toronto and they had a 288 GTO upstairs in the owner's private collection area. The car has only 4400 KM on it and it looked good beside one of Schumacher's '99 season cars, a '73 Daytona hard top, a sweet little Dino, a perfect 330 GT and a LeMans-type racer from a couple of decades back. If you are ever in the Toronto area, swing by Maranello Motors and bring your camera.

    Ah...life is good:)

Franc308 - please desist from posting pics of your beautiful Grigio Argento car; everytime I see that colour I want to make my car that colour!
Barchetto - love your car's little companion in the last pic (my Abarth 695'd 500 is painted to match my 308). 500 for the suburbs and 308 for the highway is an unbeatable combination IMHO!

Yeah I liked the contrast of that pic. I don't own the Fiat though just the 308.

Somehow I don't think you are going to get any arguements with this statement in this section of F-Chat. :D

These cars have not aged. When my car was on the road, some poeple were surprised when I told them is was built in 1978.

Wow. I've seen maybe a billion 308/328 pics, but this one (reposted here) captures the essence of the car nicely (and I'm not really even a red car fan, per se.) Fantastic photo - composition is great, with the yellow steering wheel emblem dead center. Btw, the spoiler and louvres are part of the '70s/'80s vibe, not something to apologize for. Big brother Boxer had one and it looked great there as well.

    www.fioravanti.it He's still at work !

I agree , he could bring back grace, elegance, balance and originality currently lacking.

He currently drives an F40 (which he designed) and had for many years a Glass 308. Don't know if he still has it. We need a Fioravanti Thread here.

    That is an awesome picture.

Draws your eye right to the emblem and puts you in the cockpit. The way the louvers and the rest of the car are a little blurry and the emblem is clear and in focus make the effect work. Sort of makes you wonder what it must be like to get behind the wheel.

    Very nice.

I saved every shot in this thread! Sexy x10! I was reading the other day about the design and how it came about, it was a great story and made me love them even more! I am just happy they didn't make the prototype, its was far from what we have today!

Great Pics everyone, I love pictures that are none studio shots. The sun just accentuates the lines and makes the image just come alive.
