A few years down the road when the 355 is a classic, or even now I guess, how will the sticky interior issues be viewed? As part of the patina of the car? Will people lose points for replacing or refinishing the door handles?

I would think for concours judging the interior pieces should look good. Going to a judging with sticky interior pieces and telling the judge "It happens to all the 355's" ain't gonna cut it. Buy new or have them refinished to look like new again...

+1 ........ concours is not my thing but it makes sense that any components in 'bad shape' would need to be addressed in one way or another .....

I wonder if this 'honorable individual' can refinish a pair of door handles and the ignition area clamshells/cowling .........

I am suffering this problem also, my door handles are on there second respray and starting to peel now.

What do you use now Robbie? I was thinking of just using a satin finish acrylic lacquer paint but not sure what the "feel" of the parts will be like after that.

So far my door handles are just cleaned up and have a 'very' fine 800 grit wet sandpaper finish. Looks pretty good and will never peel ...... ;)

If yours is rubbing off clearly you're playing with it too much. Stop that, you'll go blind son!

ok seriously yeah my door handles are showing some wear...next step may to just powder coat those and be done with it. Everything else looks fine so far. And for sure screw the concours points, I'm already out with the Euro lenses on a US car, custom carbon fiber bits, etc.
