Here's a photo from the 1958 Chicago Auto show, with two Superamericas on the Ferrari - Chinetti stand.
The car on the right is 0713SA in its original maroon color.
The man in the light colored coat on the left is Luigi Chinetti

    Thanks for the picture !

The little car at the far left was on the official Ferrari website a few years ago, named as 735 S 1953 : cute little thing !

Is that 290MM s/n 0628 in the background?

It could be, as Chinetti was the owner of #0628 in 1958.

Today, the white stripe is larger at the front of the car ...

...and with a new body, Jarrett.
In 1958, 0628 had the "pontoon"'s one seen on this pic... Today, it has a 1956 "replica" body.
Unfortunately, I think the nose is now not very similar to the 1956's one (too much big and rounded in my opinion...).
I would have let 0628 with its pontoon body if I have bought the car...

It's interesting to see the difference in displays, from the bare bones 1958 display to the current, lavish, theatrical productions manufacturers now use.

    No longer here
0628 does not have a new body -- only the nose was changed to match the original, based on the original drawings and careful measurements. The pontoon fender nose (which was an accident repair) still exists, as a wall hanging in the owner's garage.

Charles Wolfe ordered his 410SA Series II with several modifications, including the air intake from the Testa Rossa, rear window wipers, bumper guards from the Superfast and a Solvil rally clock, amongst many other personalized touches. This is a picture of the drawings by Farina detailing his requests. I have also posted this item as a new thread for those interested in this type of historical document.

The car on the left in the Chicago Auto Show picture would be a 250 GT with Ellena coachwork, however, not a 410 SuperAmerica. Unique period color photo!

    Oh yes!
    And it's another silly destruction:
0628 had far more history in NART guise (Moss' victory at Nassau in 1957) than in any Concours, as a trailer queen trying to record the Hill/Trips dnf at Sebring a while earlier.

The pontoon nose looks pretty good to me. Folding in the front edges of the body behind the wheels would make it more TR like though.

0628M won best of show, didnt it. I am a model builder, and when I first saw that nose
a few years ago I thought it was way off.

Certainly not. The "cute little thing" is a toy, not a real Ferrari...
