We're getting dangerously close to resolving this thread with a group hug. Kind of a nice departure, actually!
Had Gilles Villeneuve lived, he probably would have taken a couple of titles for himself and caused a ripple effect as to who drives for what team in the 80's. Prost, Lauda and Piquet may not have been 3xWCs. By the same logic, Senna should have lost the 1990 season to Prost with Prost winning for Ferrari. Had Colin Chapman not died, there is also a good chance that Honda would have never left Lotus and Senna would have never been team-mates with Prost. See how this will never end when you start down the path of theoratical racing ?
+1 i'll continue. if Schumi's engine didn't blow in Suzuka, he would have taken the WDC that year, and he and Hamilton would have been teammates at Ferrari for 2007
haha, I actually partly grew up in Northern Ireland, which is where I started watching F1 (1993). People in Toronto dont know anything about F1, there are Italians here who are clueless but all of a sudden for a weekend in June they are the biggest Ferrari fans, Forza MS this and that haha. Sorry if I offended any Italians, im actually half Wop.
Yea?!? And if JV hadn't have left Williams for B.A.R. he would...he would...he would...ah, forget it...
this is often debated.People often say "if Senna lived".As mentioned earlier he was most likely gonna retire around 95.Schumi was the gunner and the underdog who was on pace to win in 94 anyway. As for Schumi now,if he were still here,it's safe to saythat he would have a couple more WDCs under his belt. The engine blow in Suzuka 06 was no excuse, but we all kno he had Fernando beat.I doubt if he and Kimi were teammates Kimi would beat him.I would go as far to say if the Kimi rumours are true his replacement will be........"Mr Rainmaster" Michael Schumacher...I pray . If Schumi were to come back I would want him to replace Kimi(at the moment),simply because of Felipe's pure passion for Ferrari/for racing period .Also just as important he is an awesome driver.Kimi might be WDC and the Scuderia has both of my favorite current drivers, but Kimi has to put down the vodka bottle and the blunt to be @ top form.Even I will admit if Kimi is at top form,it will be difficult for Felipe to match.Or will it be?
Have you been following F1 as of late?looks like not.I actually am confident of Felipe's chances for the WDC,yet he is no number 2.Sure Kimi was devastating quick at Hungaroring(no one was quicker),but we will see @ Valencia.New circuit they have'nt even tested on,and a true test to driver skill. To say he is the Rubens of the to is irrelevant because Kimi is no Schumi.
well, i think this is nonsense. Kimi is having a battle with his motivation rather than battling on the track. right now, Massa looks like the person who deserve the WDC more than him.
No one "deserves" the title over anyone else. The title is decided by racing luck and circumstance. Although far from my favorite, Hamilton "deserved" the title last year. And the year when Prost had more points than Senna but only 11 races counted, Prost raced more competitively than Senna and "deserved" the title. But getting back to Schumi, the man with the best car SHOULD win the title, i.e. Mansell 1992. Schumi 2002,2004. But, when there are more than ! driver on a team or more than 1 type of car that CAN win, then the title is earned, not deserved.
