I just made a stop at the local Barnes and Noble, and despite an aversion to spending $20 on a magazine (!), I broke down and bought Classic and Sports Cars special issue 'Italian Dream Cars'.

Writer Andrew Frankel absolutely waxed poetic over the F355, citing it as the seminal car in Ferrari's transformation of their mid-engined 8 cylinder cars: "It's rare that you drive any brand new car and know that, 10 or 15 years on, it will be a guaranteed classic. But that feeling was obvious from those first few moments at the launch (of this car...) and its pleasing to see the F355 well on the way to being accorded the hallowed status its abilities so richly deserve. This is not a car to buy, use, abuse and sell. It's a car to buy and keep, Forever."

As a 1st time Ferrari owner with an F355.....goodness, that makes me feel good!

Go buy the mag, there's plenty of great stuff in it.

I had the flu last week and felt like a POS. I walked into the garage and looked at her and said yep im taking her out. After all these years it still gives me a rush to drive this machine. For 30 minutes I had not one flu symptom. Got home and put her back in the garage and walked into the house and the flu was back. This car is simply amazing to say the least.

Original article was in the May 2006 issue. I have had it in my briefcase since I bought it (longer than I have had my car!) and it makes me feel good everytime I read it. Especially in the long winter months.

The 355 is iconic; change from transverse to longitudinal engine placement, 5 valve heads, ground effects, and much, much more,
but who could forget to mention the improved styling from predecessors...

My first and lasting impression is that every time I open the door it seems to say to me “Let’s you and me go out and play”

We 355 owners are truly fortunate to have the zenith of ferrari's design and engine sound.

Further back in the issue you will find that Alastair Clements compiled a feature entitles 'The Middle Ages', ostensibly to offer coverge of the baby Ferraris from the 308 through to the F430. He, like most, are smitten with the F355:

" From a standing start it left big brother 512TR and Lamborghini's spectacular Diablo in its wake yet, unlike those dinosaurs, it was equally at home in stop-start traffic or pottering to the village shop for the Sunday papers."

Yeeshh! Do we know how to pick a Ferrari, or what?!

Raining like the devil down here in Va.

Just got home to find that my car cover was delivered. Bought one from Beverly Bay (is this the remnants of the old Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories?). It's the stretch fabric with a soft liner (in RED, of course...)....feels like silk, and fits like a glove.

Now that's what the car should have - not the "drapes" that are typically sold in department stores - what did you pay for it?

I believe it was somewhere around $240 including free shipping. Took about 10 days to get it, and it's by far the best car cover I've ever had including the flannel ones.

There is 355 info throughout. Plus other great articles about other Italian Supercars. One other favorite line..."From a standing start it left the Lamborghini Diablo in its wake, yet it was equally at home in stop-start traffic or pottering to the village shop for the Sunday papers".

    Thanks for the recommendation.
