Ok... so, I sneak into the shop when nobody is looking and steal my own car. They didn't know that I knew how to take it down of the rack This is the 1st chance I have had to get any pictures of the boxer since it was "finished" if there ever really is such a thng Unfortunatly, the sunlight was VERY direct today. So the pics didnt all turn out. Alot of them make it look like the car ( which is silver ) is white. I didn't have time to wipe it down, etc. So there is some dust, etc. But it's Ferrari dust The rest of the pics are here http://www.adidev.com/boxerproject along with the pics of the work to date. Anybody else think that I should have gone with the single Daytona mirror ? Very special machine there. Is that the original interior colors? The first Ferrari I ever saw was a silver over black Boxer scheme- this was 1980. Still remember it so that tells you what impression it made.
i like the mirors...while not very functional, they are the prettiest mirors i can remember. btw...they were the very same used on lauda's 312 t!!
Looks great! Thanks for returning it to its original glory. It suffered for years as a koneig, lol. Your tail lights are turned on an angle (see the pattern), not picking! Just helping.
Thanks for the feedback As far as I can figure out, these are the original interior colors. I call it stealing my own car because every time I go to the shop, I get told I can't have it becuase they have some part or another out of it being stripped, polished, painted, replaced, etc. for the last 2 years or so. These mirrors seem almost useless to me. At least I can't see anything in them. I have the Daytona/Dino mirror also. If I was thinking, I would have had the single Daytna mirror installed. Then, if I didn't like it, I could drill the holes in the passenger door and mount these. Now, If I want to switch back, I have to repaint the passenger door. I'll have to see if I can turn the taillights to point the right way. Which side goes up ?
A really great looking 365 especially in silver. I think the mirrors look good. I have the Daytona/Dino type on my 365 BB but I don't think they look that good as they are round and don't go with the general shape of the car. I was actually thinking of putting on the type you have........!
Awesome, Dr. Mike! Great machine and she looks gorgeous (although personally I'm not a fan of Argento on a BB, but I am definitely in a minority). I hope you get to enjoy making miles with her soon, after such a long wait. Onno
Mike, She looks great!! And I'd have to agree with you; the mirrors are pretty useless, particularly the RHS one. Regards, David
A truly stunning 365 BB....a very striking colour combination, always thought red was the ideal colour for a BB but after seeing these pictures silver must rank a near equal. Talking about 365 BB's, guy here in South Africa, rebodied his 365 BB, yes rebodied in the sense that the orginal body was showing signs of age so he got an entirely new body for the car...the orginal is still to be seen in his garage...am hoping to see this fairly soon. He has a few connections ar Ferrari....
Wow! Fantastic job, Mike. And thanks for posting all the great re-hab pics as well. Any chance you'll make it to the Coronado Speed Festival in San Diego, October 11&12? John
Car looks wonderful Dr Mike, a very special car now. Can you give some info on the wheels and tyres you have? Steve
Hi all. Thanks for all the comments. Nothing special about the wheels and tires. I had intended this to be a "driver" so I used Goodyear Eagle GT tires. The wheels are the 7.5" / 9" 512BB combo that I got from Shaugnessy. I think I have an extra pair of 7.5" here if I wanted to switch to the "correct" wheel configuration. But, I like these better
Thanks Mike. I have a BB512 with the same original wheels, and need to change the tyres. I am looking for an alternative to the Michelin XWX which are a crazy price and look awful. Your wheel/tyre combo looks great on the car, can you tell me the size tyres and exact type of Goodyear you are using. I hope you enjoy the car after so much hard work. It really is beautiful. Thanks Steve
Unfortunatly, I don't think the Goodyear Eagle GT VR series tires are available anymore. Seems the choices for 15 inch rims are drying up. I run the same setup on my Daytona with the 7.5"/9" Cromadoras. This is what I have now: FRONT: GOODYEAR EAGLE GT P225/60VR15 REAR: GOODYEAR EAGLE GT P255/60VR15
BTW.... 2 things... 1. Does anyone have a good picture of the leather strap that is supposed to hold the toolkit in place? I need to find one or make one. and 2. Does anyone have a source for the little rubber boot that covers the wiring on the starter solenoid? Mine is in bad shape. Thanks again, all
Mike, I'll get you a photo of the tool kit strap (mine is still original) a bit later on today... I purchased a new starter boot (reproduction, I think) from Ferrari-UK just three years ago. Perhaps they're still available? Regards, David
