i don't think europe is that much different than the us. the popular colors are always popular. however, i have grown so tired of red, yellow, black, and silver dino's, i am biased. something different is always of much more interest to me. verdio medio isn't common, but looks really cool in person. i undersatnd if you don't like that color, but at least choose a color that isn't "common".

if you are going to do a excellent quality repaint, choose an "off" color that is original. it will always appeal to the true ferrari enthusiest. trust me, he probabley already has his fair share of red ferrari's.

Thanks for the photos of the verde medio Dino. Very nice! The color on my inner panel is not so bright, but then again it has been hidden for 34 years. However, I can tell that is the same color. The color samples chart on the link on the first page of this thread shows the verde medio paint chip and it looks just like the paint on my car.
I am in the process of repairing the common rust issues that Dino have, and was lucky enough to find the original toolkit wrenches that had fallen down the left gutter of the trunk, lodging in-between the inner and outer panels of the rear fender just behind the tire!
I am returning the car to Euro specs, including removing the US side marker lights that were installed years ago. I will post some photos as I go along.

After getting paint chips and examining the interior of the doors and several other panels on the car that still have Verde Medio paint on them, I have decided to return 7580 to it's original color. I will post photos shortly.

    ...and Verde Medio is better!

As all have said, it's your car & your decision. However..., as also pointed out, Verde Medio Dinos were/are scarce. Yes, there is a plethora of red Dinos (OK, 'got one!); yours will be a refreshing change of pace. And I think it makes financial sense, in this case.

'trust you will grow to love it!

So you are going back to original? Way to go!!! I think it will look stunning. It will also be different than the sea of red and yellow's.

What about the light lime green colour. I'm a big fan of unique colours, but not outlandish colours. Although I do like the Verde Medio.

Nothing beats having the only car in that colour in the parking lot ;)

I think the interior will look absolutely stunning with the green! Very nice choice to stay with it.

Given that you said you don't like the original color, it must be kind of hard to have so many FCHATTERS telling you to paint it the original color, but I am glad to see that you have changed your mind. From photos you posted, I am not sure if your car was originally the metalic version of Verde Medio (I think I have seen both a metalic and a non-metalic Verde Medio), but if not, I would not hesitate to paint it 106-G-29 Verde Medio Metallizato . . . it will be beautiful.

BTW - didn't Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories have a Verde Medio Metallizato 246GTS for sale (they had a bunch of cars for sale in some of their catalogs) just before the went out of business? I think it had between 23,000 and 26,000 miles on it at the time. I remember calling them about the car but I never heard back from them.

That is an absolutely beautiful shade. While green isn't the color du jour on modern cars today, being period-correct makes a classic car all the more authentically cool.

Can't wait to see it when it's finished!

with the interior being original, i think the original paint color combo looks cool. i am in the minority, but this setup would get more from me than "common color" restro.

Oh wow I hope he went back to the original color. As far as rarity and value go, its probably worth $20-$30k more in it's original colors. And rarity? WOW I've never seen another one. That green is really lovely on the GTS. Keep us posted.

Maybe if the paint was original. But since it was repainted, I doubt it's worth more. For me, though, the fact that it was the original colour would make it quite special. I'm still thinking my new-to-me 365 BB should be resprayed to its original Dino Blu in a year or two.

At long last, my Dino has been painted Verde Medio Metallico, its original color from the factory. We found a section behind the door panel that was covered by vinyl that had the pristine original paint underneath and we were able to match it very well. We used the period correct fine metallic paint rather than the current paint trend of larger metallic flakes and it matches the original in that regard as well.

We begin reassembly soon. I will deliver the original windshield, which I had professionally polished to remove years of subtle damage from the elements, along with the recovered dash, done by a local interior restoration expert. I had to bring both of these gentlemen out of "retirement" to do these jobs since they had both decided several years ago there was no way it made sense to do such time consuming jobs since they couldn't charge what it cost them in time. I convinced them I would pay to have it done right and so they took on the tasks and did a wonderful job on both.

I am now searching for the correct original style tan carpeting, shown below, but no luck so far.

Here are photos of my Verde Medio Dino, after over 3 years of gradual restoration. The new paint is an excellent match for the original panel we discovered during the restoration, with the fine metallic particles used in 1974 paints rather than more modern large metal flakes.

I need to get new seatbelts. Any recommendations? I am not looking for original but for the period look and modern safety. I would prefer non retractable belts since one of the current retractors interferes with placing the top behind the seats correctly.

    Jim,

Congratulations!!!! I think the color is wonderful and it's good to see the car back to her original form. Did you do any engine work? Again, congrats! She is stunning in Verde Medio Dino, you took the correct decision there!
