www.valentine1.com - you get what you pay for.

Remote volume control is so you can turn it down without touching the unit. I don't find this useful. Top down (while not in a 360 Spyder), works fine and is audible. I would opt for the remote display, so it blacks out the radar detector when hooked up.

    Tip: REMOVE CAPS LOCK

Since you mentioned "built in" detectors, the V1 doesn't qualify (although I do agree that it still remains the best overall radar detector that is available.)

Beltronics makes the new Sti-R (for remote). It's immune to the Spectre radar detector-detector and has very good sensitivity. Escort (parent company of Beltronics) makes the new 9500ci, which incorporates the same antenna as the Sti-R, but also has the standard 9500's ability to lock-out false alarms. Also, the 9500ci comes with Escorts new ZR4 LED-based laser jammers.

Stay away from Cobra, RMR and other low-end units.

Is it just me, or does the valentine laser detector scream every time an Infinity drives by?

does Valentine have a fix? If not, we need to start a petition to get all Infinity cars off the road.

WRONG. You can install a Valentine 1 in your car. I had TECHNIK1 in NYC install my V1 in my Testarossa. The arrows were located in the rear view mirror, and the sensors were mounted front and rear. All hardware was hidden and not visible.

Isn't that why they have the Logic and Adavanced Logic settings?

Nice. I wished I had seen this before getting a K40 put in my Lambo. Do they sell this as a kit too? Sending it to NYC wouldn't cut it.

Gus at TECHNIK1 is a great guy and would help you out with info on how to install it in your Lambo. Talk to your local high end stereo install shop and then talk to Gus about how to do it. I'm quite sure that Gus would be more than happy to give some technical advice to your installer on how to install a hidden V1. Gus also does a lot of other work on cars and is VERY HIGHLY recommended by the NYC F-Chat crew (And they aren't easily satisfied!!).

Granted, the V1 mirror looks cool, but from what I have heard from many, it's not as effective as the standard unit. What I did in my F cars was simply mount them up above the rear view mirrors (on the left and above) and wire them down the A pillars into the glove box and to the light in there. That made it so they went on with the car and not with the switch. Anyone can do this without any drama or travel at all.

Yes. The Infiniti SUVs with technology packages use some sort of laser based system, I suspect for active/adaptive cruise control. You'll see that it goes off for almost all FX and QX models, and some M models.

Valentine 1 . I have one mounted in all my cars, including my wife's and she wants to buy her mother one. So they even get the wife vote. :) All have concealed display option installed also.

Which explains why my Whistler goes off for not just the electronic eyes at grocery/drug stores, but Infinitis as well.

Still lots of false alarms with full logic. I found it's easy to tell the difference between false radar & real radar, but the laser screams like mad at Infinity's, just as it would in a laser trap. Rather annoying

If you read the V1 manual and change the settings around, turning off X-band radar and turning off the "POP" radar significantly reduces radar false alerts, even in "A," all bogeys mode.

There is only one state that still uses X band radar, and virtually no units in the US have POP ka radar (and the ones who may have it don't use it).

Infinitis are still a problem :)
