Hello, I need to replace a door window on my F355, I've been told its pretty straightforward to do. Does anyone have any helpful advice? Thanks
To get to the door glass you have to remove the outside scoop panel, 3 allen head screws and 5 10mm nuts IIRC you will see them when you look at the panel. Window is held in place by 3 bolts at the lower edge of the glass. It is fairly straight forward, once you get in there you will see what it takes to get it out/in.
I haven't had to replace a 348 window yet, but on my Corvette it helped to have a 2nd person holding the glass (removal done in the raised window position) while I did the final unbolting, so as to not let the glass drop and shatter. Heck, there's probably some easy way for just one person to do the job, but I'm a novice who doesn't know such a trick!
It's been a while since I've had the windows out of my car but. It's easiest to take out the glass when the window is rolled all the way down. Here is a link to an old thread showing what the insides look like http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=135816990 You can't take out the glass through the hole where the intake is because there is a outer door support that is in the way. You can see what I'm talking about in the link I posted. So what you are gonna have to do is remove the inside door panels to get to the glass. Once you have the panels off and the glass disconnected from the regulator, I found it easiest to rotate the glass in order to remove it. Or was it you have to remove the glass still attached to the regulator, and that's why you had to rotate it? Sorry it's been a while. Anyway I do remember that you are gonna have to tip the front part of the window down and tip the back up to get it out. Of course after you take off the inner door frame that is behind the door panels. Hope that helps?
