Hi all, I'm thinking of upgrading the exhaust on my 360 from the standard item but what I was wondering was should I replace the cats too or should I just get a system that starts after the cats? Will it make much difference to performance (I'm sure it will hardly be noticeable lol) & will the sound be a lot different without the standard cats? Also, are there any replacement cats that you can recommend or is it best to by-pass them? Thanks in advance
I got my hyperflow cats from Ricambi America. One of the best mods for my 360. Save some weight over stock, and now the car sounds significantly better. from the website <Ricambi America is proud to offer the finest in high-performance emissions control equipment: Hyper-Flow. Hyper-Flow catalytic converters are custom designed and manufactured exclusively for Ferrari using 100% stainless steel construction. The metallic catalysts offer superior flow and performance over ceramic core converters, while the polished outer shell supplies the look every Ferrari deserves. Your Ferrari will meet strict emission standards (even in California) with little or no power loss compared to straight-pipe configuration. Hyper-Flow catalytic converters flow up to 30% more air than the OEM converters. This extra airflow allows your engine to make more power. If you have a high performance after-market muffler, it's capacity is only as good as the catalytic converters which feed it. Whether you're replacing old rusty cats, or looking to upgrade the performance of your car, Hyper-Flow is the right choice.>
I am just replacing the exhaust, so will see if it worth it as I know someone who changed both to compare.
I don't think the Hyperflow cats cause the CEL (although I could be wrong on this), but the straight pipes do cause the CEL.
You put on hyperflows, but kept the stock exhaust? I'd be interested to hear how that combination sounds. Most people bolt on an aftermarket exhaust and then some go further and do the cats... you started from the other end Frank
Brotha you HAVE to get a tubi etc...keep cats if you can...keep it legal...if your poor like me with an old crapper 1990 348 you dont need cats to be legal...you just have the E55 Kompressor 500bhp to roll the streets ROFL
Sorry, didn't mean this is what came on the CS from the factory, this is what my father put on the CS he has, but kept stock muffler. Car sounds much different, is a fair amount louder and the shifts sound like a shot gun blast now. Def worth it if for nothing more than the sound and weight reduction.
anybody ever dyno before and after with these exhausts? also, I would assume that the ferrari O2 sensors are standard 0-5v units. If so, a simple O2 immulator would keep the idiot light from coming on with straight pipes...
Hyperflo cats + X-OST exhaust from Ricambi = best purchase I ever made for the car. Sound is quite mellow at low RPM's but really awakens when you stand on it. NEVER a CEL. With-never-a-second-thought, I would do it again on any future Ferrari.
