Guys, I've changed all the fuel lines on my 84 QV with exception to the hose that attaches to the fuel filler neck and gas tank. here's why, I purchased the two crossover pipe hose and the filler neck hose from GT car parts in AZ. and the rest of the hoses from desire 308 (peter) The crossover pipe was a breeze to change but I fought with the filler neck hose for 2 hours, finally I pulled a tape on the old hose and it says 55mm inside dia. the new hose is 52mm id. so I call up GT parts and tell them the hose is the wrong id. and dave tells me they buy 10,000 at a time (hard for me to believe as their are not that many cars left) and I'm the only one who has complained, then he tells me to heat it up and that will help. I have been lubing the hoses with dish soap as it makes rubber slide easy and then dries unlike vaseline. So, does he need to take a drug test?( I would think this would compound problems) or does it work, 3mm is alot of expansion. thanks for your input.

Go to Napa and get part # 1055. That is what I used on my 328 when I replaced the fuel lines.

i did a thread on replacing these with pics and part numbers. NAPA had the Gates large diameter hose in stock. try "fuel filler hose" and the thread should pop up.

Thanks for the help guys, but the napa hose measures 2 1/4 inches inside dia. and the one I cut off measures 2 1/8 '' id. I'm uncomfortable with the difference. Hate to see my car go up in smoke.

I double clamped mine for extra security with Norma clamps. That thing isn't going anywhere. I think I still have a few extra Norma clamps if you want them PM me your address and I'll send them out.

Try putting the hose in boiling water. When soft, soap it up and give it a try.

P.S. I went the NAPA route without any difficultly nor qualms.

Thanks guys! Paul, thanks also! Guess I was just looking for that "you'll be fine" post. Dan, I appreciate the offer! I'll try the boiling water idea first and see how far I get, if I can't make it fit I'm off to napa.

you will be fine KIM! :)

i used Vaseline as its safe to mix with fuel. soap may do really bad things to carbs and injected cars. the NAPA hoses will fit, if i have time to dig through my other computer, i will find the pics, but i built a new pc a few months ago, and dont have much of the old stuff on here.

Michael thanks, just got the napa hose, the boiling water thing didn't work well at all. The thing I don't like about vaseline is that the hose stays slick, a little soap will dry and disapate. I have another question, There are 3 steel braded fuel lines on my QV. two that connect to the fuel distrubition piece and one down in behind the fuel pump. I would think I need to change these also as they are true fuel lines not vapor lines, is this the norm? not having much luck finding replacements.

The steel braided lines are not rubber. They are a SS braid covered version of the black polyamide lines used for the fuel injectors. Unlike rubber, the polyamide line holds up well with time.

I've been supplying kits of the non-SS line for awhile. See:
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186689

However, if you really want to update your SS lines, I believe I can supply the basic line. You'll still have to press the barb on the ends onto the fitting barb & compress a ferrule around the braid. You can use a std tubing flaring tool to hold the line while you press the barbed fitting into it.

if they are original, i would change them. fire sucks. my Qv will not be here for a week or so, and then i can give better advice. ( i will have something to look at)

my other 4 ferraris were carb cars.

Verell and Michael Thanks for the info. I thought they were rubber. I'll probably just leave them "as is" for now. I tried to get them from Fer parts but they said they would have to call Italy and the factory is closed for the whole moth of aug. Thanks Again! Kim

Not really, all you can see is the SS braid molded over the polyamide tubing. No way you can make a condition assessment from looking at it, or even feeling it.

BTW, for the pair of braided lines to/from the distributor, one lists foro $72 & the other for $182!
