Last week, I had the brakes done at Lambo Dallas. The rotors were fine and the pads were changed. This week, there is a loud squeal each time I brake, not at the beginning, but as the car comes to a stop. Any suggestions? Should the brakes be squeeling after pads were just replaced? 2000 Modena.

I had the exact same problem with my 2000 Modena after I got the pads replaced. The new pads were manufactured by Brembo (stock). My friend who did the servicing for me was nice enough to then replace the new Brembo pads for a another set of pads manufactured by a different company (I don't remember which company...the pads are green though). Hope this helps

Take your car back to the dealer. Sounds like they forgot to put antisqueal material on the back of the brake pads.

+1, but even with the anti-squeal stuff, the factory Ferrari pads are known for this sympton. Porterfield R4S work as well as the stock pads, do not squeal, and make about 50% less dust too.

The brakes on my cars squeal when they're cold. Once up to operating temps, they stop.

(Keeping them at operating temps in city traffic is a problem, though.)

Did you or the dealer bother to bed the new pads? And did they change the rotors or resurface/cut them? Whenever you put in new pads, you should always to a bed-in procedure to assure that you season the pads and transfer material to the new rotors. If you follow the bedding procedure that most manufacturers publish for their pads, it should minimize the squealing. The anti-squeal material will help, but proper bedding can often eliminate or avoid the problem.

Even with bedding, some pads simply squeal more than others. I have used the Porterfield R4S pads on several cars, including a couple of F-cars, and like them. As mentioned, no squealing, they don't dust as much as stock pads, and they give excellent stopping power. Check with Daniel at Ricambi, he can get them for you.

When the brakes are COLD, run a hose in there on them and remove the brake dust. :):)

Gets rid of brake squeal 99% of the time. ;);)

When the new brake pads are bedding in, they tend make more dust than usual. The brake dust causes the brake squeal. Before every drive, run the hose in the brakes to remove the brake dust from the last drive. Before long, they will bed in nicely and you wont have to hose the dust out anymore. :):)
