Anyone know off and fitted a front brake upgrade to a 94 uk 456GT?? I.e. bigger or grooved front discs and better capilers(brembo??) but whilst still keeping the original wheels.

There is not much clearance between the wheel spokes and the calipers in the front, so unless you go with 18" or 19" wheels, there is not much room to upsize discs and calipers.
You can switch from Ate to Brembo, but size wise you are stuck, pretty much.

    Hi Rik,

Just sent you a pm on the costs.
I wanted to go for a 6 pot 380mm kit being under the impression that bigger is always better, but the distributor convinced me that the 342mm 4 pots are more than capable to do their job .
He uses a similar kit on his track prepared M5 that is frequently lapping the Nordschleife so they should do the trick on my 456.

I'll post a report on my findings shortly.

Hiya Michael, would you be kind enough to PM me as well, this is something I would consider doing to my 456, the speeds it can reach - stopping needs to play a "good" part :)

ps Love the Black 456 Pics, most excellent.

    kind regards Aamir

    Hi Mcbenz,

I had just found Movit as well on the web, so would also be interested in how you find the new brake set up. I would like to keep the original wheels if possible, so will get in touch with Movit and see what they recommend. Keep us updated. Did you contact Movit direct or via a dealer?? I'm in the UK by the way.

I did a day at Spa with the 456 and found that the brakes were getting very hot, although they still worked, I think if I had done more than 3-4 laps at a time with cooling down time in between, then the brakes would have started to go.

Happily the 456 had plenty of power and apart from the back feeling light coming out of eau rouge !! the car performed very well on track.

    Hi Aamir,
I totally agree on the fact that the 456 could do with a bit more stopping power under 'spirited' driving conditions.
Can't wait to experience the results of the conversion.
    BTW,U got mail.

    Number 46,

I haven't received the kit yet, delivery will take approx. another 2 weeks.
I bought mine through a Dutch distributor, mainly because he's an enthusiast and in addition the guy has quite a lot of track experience.
Good to hear you enjoyed Spa, it's absolutely brilliant, just an hour's drive from my place
Are you a fan of The Doctor by any chance (Number 46)?

    Regards,

    Michael

Job is finally done, wheels suit the car rather well IMO.
As for the brakes, they do make for a substantial improvement in stopping power, altough fitment wasn't as easy as expected.2 new brackets had to be made to get everything fitting properly.
I'm seriously contemplating to move the front breaks to the rear and ordering a bigger diameter 6-pot kit for the front though.

Yes, that DOES give it a more aggressive look, not to mention seems the brakes are great. I'm not fearing my current, stock setup, but that looks sort of very nice....good work

we were looking at 456 sets, there are none in that link. Not sure if the 550 really translates over to the 456.

Received info from Movit and may well fit the upgrade when funds allow! In Italy on holiday at the moment and have just got the 'musical ' headlights problem !! u/s pop up motor I think, but will fix it when I get back to UK. What wheels have you fitted? are they the same tyre size as standard? as they look good. Should be able to visit the Galleria Ferrari on the way back to Verona on Saturday if time permits.

Graeme- Good idea so folks can find the info. One of my friends in the UK fitted the same brakes I have, Mov'it 396 mm front ceramic CERs, to his 456M. Not sure if he has upgraded the rears yet or not. He had to use 19" wheels, of course.

Interesting to note GTA front disc is the same part number as the 456MGT 165686
Where as the GT is 141330
Haven't found a part number for the latter post 2002 456Ms
