    Today, as I was stuck in traffic on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge for an hour and a half, I noticed that the speedo needle shows 10MPH when the car is stopped. Later, when going past one of the MD "Check your speed" radar display thingies, It looks as if the speedo is reading almost 10MPH high - I was showing 65, radar read 57. Since the standing still offset is about the same as the error, I'm thinking they are directly related. Is there any way to adjust the needle position on a 328 - similarly to zeroing an analog multimeter needle?

    There's a peg at 10 mph. It cannot go lower than that.

    There was an extensive article on calibrating the speedo in the tech section, a little searching should find it. No easy task -- I just kinda go by the tach and gear.

    Check your tachometer and you'll see that it reads 500 RPM with the engine off. We probably mentioned this in the other thread.

    Mike, welcome to one of the most rewarding and one of the most frustrsting car fraternities.

    You will notice the brand name Veglia on the instrument panel... It is pronounced 'vague - lia' bu really should be 'very - vague - lia.'

    Personally, I just drive as fast as I dare until the V1 starts screaming, then immediately slow down to something that bores me.

    Once the beeping stops... Repeat as necessary!

    Before posting I did find the thread on calibrating the speedo but didn't see the part about the little peg that keeps it from dropping below 10MPH. As far as actually calibrating the speedo to read correctly, it's not a big deal - I'm familiar with Smiths' gauges/Jaguar/Norton (Lucas) electrics. Veglia gauges/Ferrari electrics seem related, if not like brother/sister, at least like first cousins!! ;)

    Your missing the points that have been made in other threads...
    even at 20+ years old, these cars are fast. Even standing still.
