    yesterday,filled the a/c compressor up with 2.3lbs of freon,the car was cold and when we shut the car off,we heard a hissing noise,a puddle on the floor,the leak was found behind the clutch,everything that was put in had to be taken back out,so I'm searching for a replacement and found in a thread that some of you bought a york #258108 from NAPA but kept the parts and clutch and everything to put on the new one and everything worked find,will I went to NAPA and the compressor can be here on tuesday for $185 and a $15 core at that price I'll keep the old compressor,so who here has replaced the a/c compressor with the york#258108 from NAPA and what is your take on the switch of compressor's

    When I blew my OEM compressor I went to my local auto store and got a york replacement. I used my old clutch and it bolted right up. Also the york was a direct fit except I needed to use US standard bolts because the metric's wouldn't work. This was back in 2000 and I am now in the process of doing a Sanden conversion. I am using a 7 piston replacement and have eliminated the idler pully assembly. The bracked I have the Sanden mounted to has the adjustment feature so I don't need the idler. All fits great and is very compact and light compared to the York. I just need to get the high pressure hose crimped with the Sanden fitting and I'm ready to install the new drier and expansion valve. I am in anothe house project so I have not been working on this but I'll get it done in a few weeks. Good luck.
