Spitfires are beautiful, but my vote goes to the Republic XF-12 Rainbow: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Mustang is a good looking aircraft i agree, but whereas the Spitfire is a delicate ballerina the Mustang is more woman wrestler. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Again i agree a great looking plane, but not as beautiful as the Spitfire. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I thought this was a pretty sweet pic. Wish it was of a better resolution, though. Oh well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think that the Mosquito is also a great looking aircraft, what do you guys think? Image Unavailable, Please Login
By far it is the Spitfire, the original Spitfire MK 1. The pictures of the Spitfire shown are not the pure version and to me are not as pretty as the original. Balance of form, graceful proportions, and absolute quality in every respect. It flew as good as it looked, too. I spoke with the pilots who flew in the RAF and in the Abottsford airshow and they all said that it was a *****cat. The guy that flew JIm Ross's at Abottsford said that it was a just an all metal Cub compared to the P-51. Biplane choice would go to the Hawker Fury which was the epitome of the biplane fighter. The Curtiss P-6E would be second. WW1 would be the Fokker D-7. And then, my favorite, the Stearman PT-17 , the absolutely best flying airplane EVER. Specially with a 300HP or 400HP up front. They wanted to fly as much as you did.

Granted, the Spitfire is most aesthetically pleasing. Dunno about those "old school" planes, too much like box kites......
Should I have said, " Kittycat"? The other term for a little cat was perfectly acceptable in our household. A docile little feline. Howz zat ? Dig up a pictuer of a Hawker Fury and you will see the beauty of it. Also that it was nothing but a two- winged Hurricane that Sydney Camm designed after he did the Fury. I have not had the pleasure of flying a P-51 but I have ridden in one and THAT is an impressive piece of machinery !!! Switches
Feline is a good word. I like the WWI planes too. I just like to get you stirred up. I have always liked the Albatros.
Beautiful and very progressive with the molded plwood fuselage and advanced design. von Richtofen got most of his victories in an Abatross D-6
Hard choice, but I can't pick one. The Concorde for jet powered commercial. The Lockheed Constellation for prop commercial. B17G looks good and so does the SR-71. Best fighter jets I'd say F14 and Sukhoi Berkut (my avatar and profile). Image Unavailable, Please Login
