An interesting pix from my bud Scully from South Africa. He leads this T-6 aerobatic demo team there and sent me this pix. I have actually seen this done on Lake Beryessa in Cal. by my crop duster friend Bob Suacci. Seemed to me that his rooster tails were much higher than this groups. Perhaps he got into it a little harder. Good way to clean under the fuselage. Yuh should give a try with your SNJ Russ.

I hate to think about what could happen there. Such a fine line.

New Orleans FISDO, or is it FIDO, does not allow T-6 close formation H2O skiing within the 5 mi ring of any FAA controled airport. I suppose a close H2O waver could obtained from them. Need to apply for waiver 90 working days before event using FAA forms and a US postal money order for 5K.

Holy cow! I can't believe that, water bites so quick, I think you could dig in quickly like speed boats. Plus you can't see the gear from the cockpit can you?

I guess you just build up to it, just seems more dangerous than it is. I love to take passengers in the Challenge when they don't know the track or grip. A few track out drifts when I know it will bite just before the edge and they don't. :D Anyone for a ride?

    NO FISDO / NO FIDO / NO fun-Oh?? ....
Dunno... Might be the "Flood Interdiction, & Dispersal Office"...

No close order water drill, eh?
Not even, if said controlled airport's runways are under six inches of floodwaters??

Awww, Heck! And I was gonna opt for another C.A.P. merit badge. :(

    Hey! I wonder if they'd consider Hydraulic Braking Tests ? ? ? :)

Only 5K ? When did they LOWER the application form fee? :):):)

Ha! You sound like my brother. He used to scare the crap out of me, mostly because he did this on public roads. Too many things to go wrong out there.

They sure make it look like something spectacular, but I used to carry the local sheriff down the local river to spot bootleggers (without the pretty paintin on the side of the plane).

    Holy Cow!

I've seen a lot of the SA T-6 guys - they are incredible - the best.
One movie I saw had a guy TAXI up to park and park WITH THE TAILWHEEL IN THE AIR by balancing keeping power and brake. He steered the plane at taxi speed and came to a complete halt with the tail in the air, then puled back the power and the tailwheel gently returned to the ground. AMAZING!

Okay ! I'm awake. Great pictures of incredible flying. SCARY! Good to see the posts from you guys, too. Not to do one-up stuff but my late friend, Jack Leffler, did the taxi- and- park- with- the-tailwheel off the ground with the old Boeing 247 that he brought up from Merced, California. That airplane has since been restored and is in the museum here in Seattle. Son, Spasso, and I were taking off behind the 247 at Abottsford when its right hand landing gear fell apart just as they lifted off. Pretty interesting.

Hailed as the first modern airliner, the Boeing 247 of 1933 marked the emergence of fast, comfortable air travel. This sleek, all-metal monoplane carried 10 passengers at 160 mi/h (260 km/h).

SNJ5 you just it a sad funnybone with your hijack comment. As I have mentioned before, Jack Leffler was a Jonathan Winters clone and a perpetual clown. I joined his company at a meeting one night and approached him from behind and tapped his shoulder and said, " Hi, Jack." he threw both arms in the air and yelled, " I'll go anywhere you want !"

That is a great picture Charlie. I remember when they brought that poor thing to Seattle Boeing Field in the 60's, crusty, decrepit, moss growing IN IT. Bad shape.

My dad took me inside it. It was small inside even for an 8 year old. I remember having to step over the one piece main wing spar that cut across the aisle half way to the cockpit.

Yeah, I'm still you're friend:p.....................keep the pictures coming.
