I love seeing approach pictures (see my profile pic!). Hence, I'd love to start a thread where we can upload pictures that either you or your friends have taken of various approaches. To start it off, a colleague of mine sent me an ILS approach in heavy IMC at HPN (Westchester Airport). Clear weather, bad weather - lets see them all! Image Unavailable, Please Login
It looks like you could land it VFR. I wasn't saying it was an RVR of 1600 i was just saying an RVR of 1600 would be conisedered "heavy IFR"
Previous: Excuse please.... Read it once more... Sounds to me like "in Heavy IMC" was said the first time.... But looks to be 3-5 miles ......( Umm...that's "in Heavy VFR".....) Greg -1 Der Meister - 0
I'll need to look through my old photos of some approach shots I took. They'll need to be scanned (digital photography had not been invented yet) and I'll post them, That is if I can scrape all the dust off of them! I think I have some of Republic Field, Long Island, Groton Connecticut, and Edmondton, Alberta, Canada, but, as some of you folks might know as the hair turns gray, ones brains fall out, so even if I can find them they may be of other airports. Watch this space... Plandflyr
Sorry there Ghost... I had a brain apparition.... Kept seeing a ghost! Everything was posted by Der Meister, not Ghost.
Why do you think I always wear a hat??? It keeps the hair and brains, in the order in which they left the head...! My Momma didn't raise any Dummies.... (Well, except for the one kept , in the hall closet... near the cellar door..... Of the summer house... we'd go to once a year.... to feed, and clean up after.....) No George, I won't tell them your name....
That is for sure. "Heavy IMC" to me means the approach lights come into view right at minimums. The viz looks pretty good in that pic.
^ I actually just took off from 8R on Tuesday morning - we were vacationing in Kona and Oahu. Cool!!! -
