I've been working with a company that has been doing this for about five years now. This is nothing new. Just depends how you want to utilize the product - in small markets, or large markets. You can do quite a bit in SMS and in voice.

the real thing to figure out is how to send a qpon or whatever when someone walks by or is near the store... then youll really have something, granted that may be spam or illegal in some way
