Whoops!!! I guess it was too big a rant! But, I'm feeling much better now since my medication "kicked-in", thank you!

    Bob:
Thanks for the prescription. However, I require a 10X dose (500 mg; t.i.d.) to keep me in-touch with "reality" (whatever that is).
    Take care,
    Scott

Never heard of any fitment issues or quality problems. Durability is an unknown since these are brand new, at least to the guys on Fchat who picked them up. Heat is the only downside, but that seems to be a downside with all open unshielded headers. And to Scott's point...even $5k for headers seems crazy.

Based on my experience so far, I'd recommend Fabspeed to anyone - with ceramic coating and extra engine bay shielding.

I have not seen or heard of any FABSPEED headers braking its a SHAME some people are talking down to a fair price header company who has not done anything wrong at all. Discolored headers are not broken headers.

Are you sure. I asked my guy about them and he said that he knows they are made overseas and are not that good.

take a close look at the welds. It doesn't look like some 12 year old flunky in a 3rd world country did them, the welds are near perfection. And there is suppoedly a lifetime warranty on these things. Wrap, coat, shield, whatever, or just get the Tubi's.

Lifetime warranty on the Fabspeeds is not bad. The question is... Is the lifetime warranty valid only for the first owner/he who bought the pipes, or does the warranty follow the car trough its life...?

I dont think the warranty is valid for more than for the first owner, but i may be wrong... Otherwise buying the Fabspeeds with this kind of "insuranse" must be the best deal you can get!

    Or?

FYI. Those considering ceramic-coated headers - Eastwood (www.eastwood.com) sells a ceramic coating "polishing kit" (PN 50449Z; $19.95 UDS) that will let you bring the matte silver ceramic finish to a more reflective one. I'm sure you can't get them to look as good as the original SS, but it is another option...

Nobody said they looked bad. There is much more to a header than the looks. Time will tell and we will see in a few years how many complaints there are coming in.

But guys... Fabspeeds have the lifetime warranty... If anything goes bad - warranty takes care of it... or?

Then for u who think these Headers are crap because the turn in to blue and yellow color after a while - Dont buy Stainless Steel Headers.

But, as someone mentioned earlier, if its true that Fabspeed dont make these in SS, and uses some other poor material, then its another question. Hard to belive though, i dont think they have the guts to sell them with faulse material information. Thats being on thin ice...

I myself will get the Fabspeeds, and try them. Im not a bit worried. I have the warranty if they crack, blow open or fail in some other way... Although, im aware of the fact that i need to make some really good heatshields for the arounding´s... But hey - Thats only a pure enjoy for this winter.

    =)

Fabspeed makes headers and exhaust for other exotics and for the porsche they have beaten out other companies in mag shootouts for HP . So there you have it I'm not saying there the best headers I'm just saying there price is right they are on youtube .com And you can see 997 gt3 and gt3rs with there full systems and they sound bad to the bone it they were so bad I don't think they would be in business.

They were into the Porsche scene long before Ferrari's and still are ranked right up there with the Porsche guys as one of the best exhaust systems there is....Been doing Porsches for YEARS....

I also bought the Fabspeed headers and have been driving w/ them for 1500 miles now (5 months). No problems so far, although I realize this is hardly a long-term test. I did have heat shields placed over the alternator. The headers DO change color from a polished SS to gold and blue hues, but I think that is part of the beauty of them. Doc Bob had corrosion problems with his, which suggests that water on the headers while they are hot is a bad idea. He also had underhood temp problems, but he stated that in the UAE the ambient temperature was 50 degrees C... That's hot! I live in SoCal where our summer highs are usually 80's F, and as I said, no problems yet.

Ultimately, for those 355 newcomers, like Doberman, who realize that they will have to replace their crappy stock headers sooner or later, I think the Fabspeeds are a very good alternative. The price is fair. Despite what some are saying, the workmanship of these headers is very nice. The welds are smooth and even. The flanges are cast. This is not some fly-by-night company, as they have been in the performance business for decades-- just ask any Porsche fan. And, with their lifetime warranty, they back up their product. This is better than most parts out there we buy for our cars.

    What's wrong with 'overseas'?
From U.S.A. point of view most of the OEM 355 parts are overseas origin. ;)
Even the the most convincing aftermarket headers from Tubi are.
I have seen weldings crafted in Japan, Italy, Germany done on a very high quality standard - all overseas. :D

What about the exhaust coatings by Swain Technologies?
Have you ever seen those bleech white exhaust parts? That's their coating. They also make an excellent combustion chamber coating to keep internal heat down.

    http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10323

If I were going to have a set of 355 headers coated, I would go with this coating. I know quite a few import turbo guys who swear by their coatings for the "hot side" parts leading to the turbo. This would be a good coating to keep heat away from the head.

Just had them installed on my 355 with all the necessary heat shields, perfect fit....no header coating, wanted the heat to leave the pipes...fast....
My guy, Christian at Black Horse Performance in South Florida did all the work, including fabricating the heat shields and I didn't have to take out a third mortgage.
Only time will tell.....but the build quality looked superb, sound quality was very nice !!!

For the record, the Tubis were about $5000 and had no fitment issues...
