ITV advises that Massa has now won due to Hamilton being given 25 second penalty.

Personally, I am not going to celebrate - doesn't seem fair as Lewis gave Kimi back the place.

he did, but I think the issue was that because Kimi stayed on track he didn't have the drive the Hamilton did by starting the run at corner from off the track. That's the only thing I can think.

Actually - just looked at the footage and I agree with you. Louie did gain an advantage due to having his car more in control from cutting the chicane. Just wish that the penalty had been applied during the race - more sporting that way.

Cant quite decide whether to wear my Ferrari hat this morning or not...

The penalty was for the infraction being within 5 laps of the finish. Outside of that its a 10 sec penalty.

Massa won, the FIA said so, Ferrari won, that's it, it's over, the appeal will fail, you can't protest a drive through penalty, it says so in the books, so it's over, move on...

The FIA, as usual, is full of sh*t on this one.

Have we forgot Hamilton's nice little shot at Kimi in the Pits in Canada? This is the way this guy is, I'm glad he got the penalty, takes that smirk off his face.

umm, last i checked Hamilton was never given a drive through penalty but was added 25 sec to his time and McLaren have already issued their appeal.

Im sure in the end it really doesnt matter, at least not to Kimi.
He has pissed away far to many races this season to go getting excited one way or the other. Even if he won this race, it only would have kept him in the hunt with a snowflake's chance in h*ll!

Unless you were in Belgium, at the corner(s) in question, how do you know the FIA was wrong? I wasn't there, I have no idea of what really happened.

From what I saw, Kimi messed up the approach to La Source, trying to block Lewis on the outside.

Hamilton dropped back after the chicane, but not very far. So perhaps he had more momentum than he wouldn't have had following Kimi through the corner. But Kimi also flushed away some of *his* momentum getting squirrelly under braking.

But I have a feeling that the regulations will find that the FIA can rewrite the results of the championship at will, to keep it "entertaining".

I miss the good old days, when races were decided on the track, instead of in hearing rooms.

(What really worries me is that if this is FIA scripting the championship, then it looks like the script calls for Lewis to come from behind at the end.)

Watch it on the onboard camera on youtube and you will see Hamilton trying to go round a corner far to fast and used the run off to his advantage. He doesn't lift off coming out of it to let Kimi past and therfore in my opnion gained an overall advantage. Rules are rules and why should he get away with it?

Hamilton did get ahead at the bus-stop by using the escape road. He then clearly lifted and went around the back of Kimi before overtaking him again. I cannot stand Ron Dennis and I believe he knew much more about 'SpyGate' than he is letting on but I think it is pretty obvious that any penalty imposed on McLaren for what happened is simply unfair.
At the end of the race I was exhilarated and I commented to my friend that Bernie would be an idiot to lose Spa from the calendar as it provided such a great example of what F1 can be at it's best. I still can't believe that F1 has yet again shot itself in the foot. :(

i watched the replay about a million times now, Hamilton gained an obvious advantage. Massa won the race, but i wont be celebrating it. in my opinion, raikkonen was the obvious winner of the race...hamilton screwed up in lap 2, raikkonen had the better first lap, fastest lap in the race and only lost it in the last stint partly because the ferrari isnt as quick on the harder tires in colder conditions. shame kimi span and as a result crashed.

    oh well.
