That thread looks awesome and his car..........WOW!! Gialo is a beautiful colour mate and I love it more on the newer Ferraris, as opposed to the older Ferraris. From 355 and before. Newer Ferraris Gialo looks HOT imo. But.......if I do own a few Ferraris, I wouldnt mind having them all red/tan. I just LOVE that colour combo. So I would def want a red/tan 308 as they look GREAT in that colour. If I step into something newer in the future, we will have to see what colour combo I get. That Gialo/nero 360 looks great. But Rossa/tan also looks good on the 360's.
Newman started that resto thread back in 2003!! Nearly 6 years later and probably over US $150K spent, he still aint bloody finished!
lucky my 355CH is red/black. i don't have to worry about you begging me to sell it to you and disppointing you.
Awww, ****s me?? I was taking a wild guess with that $150K+. I didnt realise it would cost much more than that!! I am in the wrong game, let me tell you.
But it will be one beautiful Gialo Fly 308GTB Dry Sumper. And I will be happy that I have made my charitable contribution towards putting 3 kids through private school.
Man too many letters at this time of night/morning. Quickly go back and edit and delete his name. You'll be fine because everyone knows PP. He has his own website. His name is well known. And not for the better for what its worth.
Ive been reading through some of Newman's thread. Looks like he is doing MOST of the work himself. So the bill will probably be way under US $150K. Then again.....this IS a Ferrari resto we are talking about.
You would have to be on crack to pay someone to do that job!! Imagine the cost.....$90 p/h over 3,000 hours labour (1.5 years). I would be too scared to drive my car after it has been fully restored like Newman's. It is just TOO nice to get dirty.
Speaking full Ferrari resto's. Remember this Canadian, Dan and his fully restored 348? He also did a great job. He just needs to tidy up a few things. Looks like he is keeping the 360 wheels on his car though. And didnt paint behind the front grill black either. Oh, and the exhaust doesnt look stock either. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183682
I'll probably just admire it. Critiquing other peoples' kids, cars and horsemanship I tend to avoid. More likely to have friends that way. As long as you're happy with the car, that's all that matters. Like to see any more pics though.
Not many to show at this time. A few more of the body work, but, just waiting for the panal shop to finish the front end. He was wiping the left front the other week. My road car is in being repaired so will take some more pics when I pick that up if there has been any progress? THe body should be done by Xmas. Not holding my breath. It was going to be done by the end of July. The gearbox is fully rebuilt, and the engine is in the process of being put back together. The heads have been machined, block done etc etc. High compression pistion are here so I am thinking the engine will be completed shortly. Next thing for me to organise is to get all the interior redone, ie, carpets, seat covers, dash etc etc. $$$$$$ starting to add up.
