I'm still trying to figure out how everything on my 328 works. Today I found some air vents under the dash that I didn't know were there!

I have noticed that the lights on the passenger side door do not illuminate when the pass door is opened UNLESS the driver door is also opened. Is this normal? I can't find anything about this in the owner's manual

Also, the two lights in the engine/trunk lid do not illuminate at all. The bulbs are fine and the fuses are OK but there is no voltage present at the sockets with the lid open. I cannot find the switch that controls those lights. I ASSUME it's the same sort of switch that activates the lights on the doors and that they should automatically light when the lid is lifted. I figure the switch might be crudded up but where the heck is the switch?"

The interior/door lights should come on when you open the passenger door, even with the drivers door closed. Mine come on with just one door open and it doesn't matter if its the driver or passenger door.

    Best regards,
    Dino

Which leads me to think that the pressure switch in the door jam that activates the lights is at fault. I had the same problem on mine. It is in the door jam (inside of the front fender) and looks like a small black rubber plunger. Push it in and out and see if it is sticking or stuck. When the door opens it is released and turns on the lights. If it does not pop out, the lights wont come on.

Yep, take that door switch out and clean it up real good. That should solve the door light isue.

There's a white lens in the trunk in front of one of the taillights. That's what lights up the storage compartment (when the parking lights are on.)

"There's a white lens in the trunk in front of one of the taillights. That's what lights up the storage compartment (when the parking lights are on.)"

I found those as well yesterday - they didn't illuminate either but I didn't realize the parking lights have to be on. Seems dumb that you would have to turn on a switch to illuminate the trunk lights. It just uses more battery power (since the parking lights are also on) and makes it possible to forget it and walk away though hopefully I would notice the parking lights on at some point! Those wacky Italians!

Re the door switch - I don't see how it could be the switch itself because the pass door lights WILL come on when you open the pass door IF the driver door is also open. But it won't if the driver door is closed. THis makes it look like the wiring circuit is through the driver door in series with the pass door so that current can't flow to the pass door lights if the driver door is closed. But I'll check this all out.

    Thanks guys!

Re the door lights - the driver door has two separate switches. One of them turns on the driver door light and the overhead light. The other switch turns on the passenger side door lights. BUt the switch on the passenger side door will NOT turn on the passenger door lights.

The switches are a little odd. They have the push button that one would expect but below the button is a small rubber "plug" that covers a hole. I can't see what's under the plug and I can't imagine what COULD be there. I'll get out some magnifying glasses tomorrow and see it there is some sort of switch there that affects how the main switches work.

Also FINALLY figured out how to turn on the fog lights. Those Italians are even wackier than I thought! ;)

The plug covers a small phillips head sheet metal screw. It's the screw that holds the swith to the backing panel.
