Miami's DC Bill Young definitely outcoached Mullen in this game. Their line moved all over the place and it confused our O line. After 2 games I feel like the team is being kept under wraps, maybe they are waiting until SEC games to open the playbook. It should have been much worse than 26-3, IMO.
I thought the team overall played their hearts out, they are regaining some of the U's swagger. They'll be back in a year or so. It was a solid, young team. You ain't got Michael Irvin on your team now, UM's wideouts looked pretty bad. And Marve was terrible, about the only thing he did well was scramble a couple times for some nice first downs. He needs some work throwing the ball. Randy Shannon seems like the real deal, just what the U needs to get back.
We don't really need a GREAT QB, just a very good one to be successful. Ken Dorsey appeared to be great, but he had a great cast around him. Hopefully this is what will come to fruition in the next year or so. I'm hoping for a decent bowl this year, and to win the intermediate ACC games (like GT, UNC, BC) for a record of 8-4 or better going to the bowl game. I have read that our young receivers are very good, and I like our running backs, so if the QB can mature quickly we can have a really good year. The OC is the largest question mark in my opinion, he needs to step it up if we are going to make progress in the near future. I did not get to watch the game, which is my preference as I could suffer a mild heart attack during these type of events. Maybe you should come over to watch the UM / FSU game, or the UF / FSU game. I always enjoy watching that one! BT
I saw that game, ECU looked great! They manhandled WV on offense and defense, nice to see that Skip Holtz is a real coach, I had my doubts about him. On the other hand WV always crumbles when they are highly ranked, they've done that for years.
Congrats, one overrated team is going to defeat a severely overrated team. The Big 10 and Pac 10 aren't competitive, they don't even have championship games. Unfortunately this year all the teams in the SEC and the Big 12 are going to beat up on each other and either an overrated USC or an overrated OSU will get into the title game against whoever can survive from the Big 12 or SEC. Personally if OSU makes it to the title game and gets their butts kicked a third year in a row I think they should be out of BCS bowl contention for at least three years so the fans get a chance of seeing a good game for once
SEC guy here but just came across this pic. Gotta love it if you're a college football fan. Bo and Woody. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hell yeah, I was there, too. Amazing game. Sat in club level Bama side, 30 yard line. Roll Tide. BTW, I suspect USC will MURDER Ohio State.
Ha! Tennessee can't even beat UCLA with it's 3rd string QB. So much for the SEC. Tenn lost to Cal too last year...UCLA beat Cal also last year. Even Oregon State gave LSU all it could handle a few years back. That OSU kicker missed like 3 chip shot FGs. SC has punked every SEC school out there. USC creamed Arkansas when they ended up winning their division.
UT is not all that good, don't discount the entire SEC from their game at UCLA. I respect USC, they're studs, and they're gonna whip OSU. SEC is still the toughest conference year in and year out, but USC could be better than what the SEC has to offer this year. Just have to wait and see. Injuries seem to be a lot more prevalent this year, at this time, not only in the SEC but all over.
Pac-10 doesn't need a championship game, it does a true round-robin format. Pac-10 isn't competitive? OU, ASU, Cal, UCLA generally all seem to have decently good teams. Certainly not teams which any SEC team would take lightly. I don't think many doubt the superiority of the SEC conference, but that doesn't mean the #6 SEC would consistently beat the #3 Pac-10 team either. And really, the superiority of USC in comparison to virtually any other college program means that the National Championship is a realistic goal every year.
Just a few more hours...heading over to the Coli right now, will have pictures from the field. FIGHT ON!!
mizzou's got nevada today, and given the #'s 1 and 5 are playing today, granted that we win, we're moving into the top 5 in rankings this week. and ku lost last night, miz, zou.
You will never convince any of the SEC rah rah crowd of this argument. They truly believe that the #10 SEC team is a far superior team to a #2 PAC 10 or #2 Big 10 team. I personally agree with your argument, and is the basic idea that I tried (unsuccessfully) to get through last year. 10 years ago I don't think the SEC was the greatest, but they have been the strongest overall for the past few years. They have the best fan base (with the Big 10 second) for the past several decades though! BT
Woohoo, 2-0 Irish. I'll say this much, it didn't have as much with the Irish being good as it did with Michigan just plain sucking. But still, we're looking much better as a team than last year. Again, that's not saying much either
you know your defense is bad when the coach gets injured, LOL! it does look like notre dame is on a rebound this year, good for them. that osu usc game turned out to be a bust, all usc, how about the auburn mississippi state game? 3-2, sounds more like a hockey score
