Oh no. I'm sorry to hear/see that. I'd say fix it and continue driving it since you drive it daily and don't care about resale.

 

That $ucks. My personal experience has been that once a car has seen this kind of damage it's doomed. Doesn't matter how good the repair job is. If you love the car and want to keep it then repair it and don't worry. If not, try to get it totalled (doesn't look like that'll happen). Or repair it and get rid of it ASAP.

Not trying to be a downer, just my personal experience with a then brand spanking new BMW 645. Loooonnnggg story (thank you State Farm).

 

Structural aluminum has been bent. It can/should only be repaired by an Alcoa certified facility. My guess would be 20-30k, but I'm sure everyone will think I've lost my mind. I can count 10k in parts there before even thinking about the suspension, wheels, rads, and a nice red can of paint. If you love the car, get it fixed and keep on enjoying it! But, fix it right.

Believe me, the blocked aluminum parts are very hard to obtain outside the US FNA channel. Here's a goody we shipped to a customer today.

Get the insurance company to write you the check (easy 20-30k I agree) and then take the car to Maaco, pocket the difference!

Kidding of course... get the car fixed, but being its a daily driver, I don't know if I would go CRAZY in repairs. Structural/safety, of course fix it. Insurance company? Require the best.... but when it comes time to order parts, save yourself thousands and get a used bumper...hood...etc etc...you'll save ALOT

 

i don't doubt $30k in repair work. My guess would have been higher than that. a wiring harness was probably pinched in there as well if I recall where it runs.

 

Contact Dick von Medacus at Karossiere, they are an authorized Ferrari repair facility in King of Prussia Pa, probably the best in the country!

It's the left front corner of a 360... the very thing you smushed.

I took that picture yesterday morning as we unpacked it from Italy. It is already in transit to a customer. #8 in this picture:

The part is pictured in my photo upside down, because it wouldn't sit still and kept wobbling around.

 

Seriously, go to Karossiere. He's not kidding, they are operating on a whole other level down there. I have had three cars repaired there over the years and each time the results were extremely impressive.

Just don't count on getting your car back in any reasonable time.

 

My son did what looks like similar damage to my Viper a few years ago. He hit a tree with the left front tire at about 20 MPH. Frame was bent, front end and steering mechs a total mess, but minor body damage. Cost $24,000... rim, tire, frame straightening, pulling the engine, parts, some body repairs, etc. It took about six weeks at a very good shop... I imagine Viper repairs are cheaper than a Ferrari.

 

Viper front hits are really rough. You actually got off pretty easy. I would think that this car is $40k done right as long as the suspension isn't too badly damaged. The shops that I deal with here in Atlanta do really good work and give good advice. Feel free to PM me if you want some references.

The worst part is that you may be out of a car for 6 months or so during the insurance appraisal/parts ordering/repair process. Getting new parts from Italy takes forever.

Car can be fixed, of course. Although it will probably take longer than your average Ford repair.

I am sure Daniel from Ricambi can help you with most parts. I would fix it and drive it man. I am sure insurance will come to the party and pay for the repair.

Sorry to see the damage. But it looks like its fixable. I live in So Cal. where Dave Freed at Premier does this kind of repair all the time. Why don't you call him and ask him the questions you want answered. He is a very pleasant to talk to and one of the most knowledgeble repair specialists for Ferrari's.

Well back in 2001 I crashed my 360 Challenge. I had a front quarter hit just like yours (video here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoOiwiEUt8c at the very end). After I got hit I pinballed it around Watkins Glen for a while & hit every possible piece of aluminum on the car. Every one.

Good news - The crew actually got the car running in 6 hours. Enough to pass FNA tech and run the enduro race.

Bad news - Not only did the repair cost $80k, but the correct parts to be properly fitted and painted took 4-5 months.

From what I know about 360s crashed in the front, if you dont hit & bend the 2 front rails..you are much better off. These 2 rails run from front to back and can be seen inside the truck. ( and also something every potential 360 owner should check). If the rails arent dimpled or bent life just got alot better. If they are, your repair just got alot more expensive

Good thing is that nobody was hurt. It looks like you have been fortunate in the hood and wheel department also. I'd get it fixed at a top repair facility and keep driving it.

I feel for you. I just had a similar incident a few weeks ago but not quite as bad. The car is at the shop where the local dealers send their cars. Estimate is around 40K and will take a minimum of 2 months depending on getting parts from Italy. They will document every step of the repair and say it will be unnoticeable when done. Hope they’re right and hope I don’t take to big a hit on resale when it’s time to trade up to a 430.

What a bummer. I crashed mine back in April and it was totaled. I had about the same front end damage, but also had rear quarter panel and rear end damage. It is/was a sickening feeling. Fortunately(didn't feel like it at the time), it was totaled and I ended up with an even better replacement 360 than my first one.

It's truly amazing how many 360's have been crashed. I love mine and will always be an absolute Ferrari Fanatic, but also have a very healthy respect for the 360's lack of warning and 'in ability' to recover from a slight mis-step. I don't even think Schumacher could have saved mine, it happened so quickly. My 911 has so much more warning on the edge and you can recover it so much easier, than my 360 and as a consequence drive it on the limit more often. The 360 gets driven at 6/10th's and never in the rain(not because I don't want it to get wet, but because they spin even easier in the wet!)

I feel for both of you guys.
