Monza is one of the greats!

I remember pictures of the Indy Roadsters of the mid-50's, on the banks at Monza. The best from the USA, competing with Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, and the best from Europe!

I don't recall who won, but the speeds were too fast and the attricion, too great, and the race was short lived, as a series. Others here may know much more on this, and please tell us of your knowledge of the events. I'll try to find some pictures of the event and post them if i do.

I think this will have to remain a dream ! NASCAR means nothing to European Motorsport fans.

A little off-topic, but is there a golf course adjacent the track? The billboard photo shows an area outside of the Lesmo curves that look like fairways. Anyone know? Just curious.

Ah! Didn't see that--thank you. So, on that note, has anyone ever played the course?

There used to be a course in the Royal Park, not sure if it is still there. Not sure if everyone knows this, but Monza has a huge Palace that the King of Italy used to own... its on the opposite side of the Park, from the track, but The Monza Royal park is like a huge central park in NYC... it has a ton of stuff besides the autodromo.

As for the Banking, I'm torn between wishing they would restore it, and use it, and then leaving it as it is for posterity... I just hope they dont want to tear it down!!!

The preservation of the Park's trees is the main focus for Italian environmentalist... not so much the track.
